Walt Disney World has issued a statement regarding Tropical Storm Idalia and their cancellation policy.
“Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions. We are closely monitoring the path of the projected weather as we continue to prioritize the safety of our Guests and Cast Members.
Guests may reschedule their trip or cancel their stay with us; any customary cancellation fees will be waived.”
At this time, Idalia is expected to become a Hurricane before making landfall in Florida.
Idalia is currently expected to make landfall in Florida around Wednesday morning, August 30.
Walt Disney World’s Hurricane Policy states that a Hurricane Warning must be issued for cancellation or change fees to be waived. However, they have adjusted that policy and are now allowing fees to be waived. We will provide updates if the resort plans any closures or other actions connected to the adverse weather conditions.

As opening night for Halloween Horror Nights 32 approaches at Universal Orlando Resort, more merchandise has appeared at the Universal Studios Store in CityWalk and in the park at Universal Studios Florida. Let’s take a look.
A new window display featuring this year’s key art is now up at the Universal Studios Store.
The displays include decoration for both Halloween Horror Nights in general and “Stranger Things 4.”
Keep your gear close with this Hellfire Club backpack.
An embroidered Hellfire Club logo sits above a sewn on patch and screen printed details. Pyramid rivets line the small front pocket.
There are also pyramid rivets on both side pockets. This side has a patch that reads “Roll for your life, dice don’t die,” and has a demogorgon with a D20 die in its mouth.
This side has a patch featuring this year’s Halloween Horror Nights logo.
This Hellfire Club flatbill hat features the club’s logo on the front panel.
The right side of the hat includes two patches. The one on the left reads, “Demobat Slayer,” and the one on the right says, “Hellfire Club Fireball Him!”
The back of the hat has this year’s Halloween Horror Nights logo embroidered.
The inside of the hat has criss-crossed “Stranger Things” logo taping, and the underside of the bill has a Hellfire Club repeating pattern.
This baseball tee features a deviation of the usual Hellfire Club logo, instead opting for an altered font and more details throughout.
The graphic on the front of the shirt is illustrated in shades of black and red. The torso part of the shirt is white.
The baseball sleeves are black, and the back of the shirt has the Halloween Horror Nights 32 logo printed below the neckline.
These graphic Hellfire Club socks feature the club’s logo up toward the top, with a repeating pattern below black striping.
Here’s a closer look at the repeating pattern. It includes various skulls with bat wings, axes, swords, demogorgons with D20 die in their mouths, and more.

The front pocket has “Wanna play?” embroidered in a drippy red font.

According to an article on Open Jaw, air traffic control systems had a “technical meltdown” in the U.K. Flights have resumed now that the issue has been resolved according to The Guardian, although thousands of passengers are still stranded.
Early Monday afternoon, 500 flights were canceled with additional flights being delayed for hours. Reportedly all arrivals and departures were suspended for a period of time due to a “network-wide” computer failure. “According to reports, LHR was the most affected although the country’s air traffic control authority, Nats, the national airspace controllers, say the problems were throughout the U.K.”
Nats stated they were “experiencing a technical issue” and had “applied traffic flow restrictions to maintain safety.”
Their statement was updated to say:
We are now working closely with airlines and airports to manage the flights affected as efficiently as possible. Our engineers will be carefully monitoring the system’s performance as we return to normal operations.
The flight planning issue affected the system’s ability to automatically process flight plans, meaning that flight plans had to be processed manually which cannot be done at the same volume, hence the requirement for traffic flow restrictions.
Our priority is always to ensure that every flight in the UK remains safe and we are sincerely sorry for the disruption this is causing. Please contact your airline for information on how this may affect your flight.
Passengers are in the process of being notified that it could take anywhere from 8-12 hours to clear the backlog now that the issue has been resolved.

The Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, Kevin Guthrie, is expecting Tropical Storm Idalia to reach Florida as a Category 4 hurricane, and the National Hurricane Center’s most recent update reveals the storm is continuing to strengthen.
Earlier this morning, August 28, the storm was thought to be capable of reaching a minimum of Category 3 — it now seems Idalia may become more ferocious than that. Director Guthrie spoke to the Tampa Bay Times:
I’m anticipating it is going to be a [Category] 4 and we are preparing as such.
Idalia is currently expected to make landfall in Florida around Wednesday, August 30.
A Category 4 hurricane can cause “catastrophic damage” and is defined with wind speeds between 130 and 156 miles per hour.
On the most recent map above from 1 p.m. ET, an “M” marks a major hurricane while an “H” marks a smaller one. Idalia will be relatively formidable when its impacts pass through Central Florida. The Florida Panhandle & Panhandle are most at risk for direct impact before the storm ventures inland, up through the Georgia coast, and re-entering the Atlantic Ocean somewhere at the border with South Carolina.
The greatest effects on the region are anticipated to occur around Wednesday morning and afternoon, August 30. Regardless of whether or not your local community is within the cone of uncertainty, experts are advising Floridians to prepare with essentials such as water, radios, first aid kits, flashlights, and spare batteries.
As of 4 a.m. ET, a Tropical Storm Watch has now been issued for Orange and Osceola Counties, including Walt Disney World.
