Could Baz Luhrmann Be Coming To Disney’s New Live-Action ‘Tangled’?

When it comes to Disney movies in this day and age, a common complaint that you can hear echoing through the internet is to stop with the live-action remakes. It seems that the audience is craving more of that Disney creativity and less of the retelling of stories gone by. Quietly, I’ve been wondering if Disney fans are frustrated with the concept of live-action, or simply bored with the way that storytelling is carried out. On more than one occasion, Disney has tried to up the stakes a little, shaking up cast diversity and roles to attract a wider audience, but that doesn’t seem to be enough to entice Disney fans back to the stories they once loved.

If Disney insists on going down the live-action path, what we need is a completely different approach. Not just a simple change of skin color or an unexpected actor; I’m talking about a whole new aesthetic. Enter Baz Luhrmann. He is the creative genius behind movies like Romeo & Juliet, Moulin Rouge, and The Great Gatsby, proving time and time again that his off-center approach to filmmaking can help audiences see the unseen. But what does Luhrmann have to do with Disney?

The word on the cloud-hosted street is that the Elvis director is the first choice to stand at the helm of Disney’s live-action Tangled. Industry insider Daniel Richtman has reportedly stated that Luhrmann is being pursued for the job, though there is no further word on the development. Would you like to see Baz Luhrmann’s take on the tale of Rapunzel shake up this live-action remake?

Our Fun & Goofy Day in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Today, we are making our big screen debut at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and starring in the newest Star Wars movie. Okay, maybe not starring in a film, but we are visiting the park and will be spending time in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Here’s a look at our day through photos I took while we enjoyed the park.

Team Blue Milk or Green Milk?

The Blue Milk ($8.49) is made with a plant-based blend coconut and rice milk with alluring fruity characteristics. The cast member helping us told us the flavor of this milk is dragon berry.

The Green Milk ($8.49) is made with a plant-based blend of coconut and rice milk with zippy citrus and tropical characteristics. We were told that the flavor of this milk is citrus orange blossom.

We also ordered the new Tenoo Swirl Crunchies Cereal ($9.99) which is made with raspberry jelly and mini rainbow crunchy candies.

This was my first time trying any of these drinks and I have come to conclusion that I am team Green Milk. Ryno is also team Green Milk and Craig is team Blue Milk.

Shopping in a Galaxy Far Far Away

We explored many shops while we walked around Galaxy’s Edge and we even got to see a few lightsabers.

Everything We Ate in Galaxy’s Edge

After enjoying all the sights and sounds of Batuu, we grabbed food in hopes that by the time we were done, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance would be back up and running.

First, we grabbed Ronto Wraps at Ronto Roasters. We ordered the two available, the Ronto Wrap ($12.99) and the Zuchii Wrap ($11.99).

Zuchii Wrap from Ronto Roasters

The Zuchii Wrap is made with grilled zucchini, smoky chickpea-onion slaw, creamy garlic-tahini sauce, and fresh cilantro wrapped in pita.

The Ronto Wrap is made with roasted pork, grilled pork sausage, peppercorn sauce, and tangy slaw wrapped in pita bread.

Next, we ordered some food from Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. Ryno and I shared the Felucian Kefta and Hummus Garden Spread ($12.99) which is a plant-based menu option. Craig got the Fried Chicken Tip Yip Youngling Meal ($10.49).

Character Sightings

We were not able to ride any of the attractions because Rise of the Resistance was down for most of the afternoon, which caused Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run to have a high wait time for the majority of the day. This just means we will have to come back and do the rides and experience Oga’s Cantina since we didn’t get to this time.

2023 Walt Disney World Hurricane Cancellation Policy

With Tropical Storm Idalia making its way toward the Gulf Coast of Florida and expected to become a major hurricane before making landfall, we thought we’d share Walt Disney World’s cancellation policy and further information regarding hurricane warnings and your vacation.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with your Dreams Unlimited Travel agent if you have additional questions not answered in the Q&A information below.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be responsible for any cancellation or change fees or other amounts if a hurricane warning is issued within 7 days of my arrival date?

If a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center for the Orlando area—or for your place of residence—within 7 days of your scheduled arrival date, you may reschedule or cancel your Walt Disney Travel Company Disney Resort hotel packages and most room only reservations (booked directly with Disney) without any cancellation or change fees imposed by Disney. Most room-only and vacation packages can be modified, or cancelled online, including changes to travel dates.

If you have products and services provided by third-party suppliers included in your vacation—such as air transportation, hotels, car rental agencies or travel insurance companies—you will continue to be responsible for any non-refundable payments, as well as cancellation or change fees assessed by those suppliers. The policy does not apply to certain special events or dining experiences.

This policy also applies to Disney’s Vero Beach Resort or Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort in the event a hurricane warning is issued for those destinations.

If you have questions, are unable to modify or cancel online or you need additional help rescheduling your vacation due to a hurricane warning, please call (407) 939-7675. Guests under 18 years of age must have parent or guardian permission to call.

A hurricane warning has been issued within 7 days of my arrival date and I did not book my package directly through Disney Destinations, LLC or the Walt Disney Travel Company. Does the cancellation policy apply to my package too?

No. You should contact your tour operator directly for information relating to the cancellation and change policies that apply to your package.

I received a special offer when I booked my vacation with the Walt Disney Travel Company. If a hurricane warning is issued within 7 days of my arrival date and I reschedule, will I get the same special offer?

Cast Members will be able to reschedule your vacation to your new desired travel dates if the same special offer is available for those dates. If the same special offer is not available Cast Members will assist by identifying alternate offers, if any, during your new desired travel dates. All amounts you paid to the Walt Disney Travel Company for rooms, park tickets and other Disney products and services will be applied toward your new reservation.

Any discounts or special offers applicable to your original confirmed vacation may not apply to the rescheduled vacation travel dates. You are responsible for applicable package pricing for the new vacation dates.

If a hurricane warning is issued within 7 days of my arrival date and I have a sports or group package, does the Walt Disney Travel Company hurricane cancellation policy apply to my package?

The policy does not apply to rooms or packages for youth groups, other groups and special events. It also does not apply to meetings and conventions. Please call your event manager for assistance.

What does it mean for my vacation plans if a hurricane warning is issued within 7 days of my arrival date?

If a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center for the Orlando area—or for your place of residence—within 7 days of your scheduled arrival date, you may reschedule or cancel your Walt Disney Travel Company Disney Resort Hotel Package and most room only reservations (booked directly with Disney) without any cancellation or change fees imposed by Disney. The policy does not apply to certain special events or dining experiences.

This policy also applies to Disney’s Vero Beach Resort or Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort in the event a hurricane warning is issued for those destinations.

If I reschedule my vacation to a different date because of a hurricane warning, will I be able to get my same accommodations?

If you are scheduled to arrive within 7 days of a hurricane warning, you may call us in advance to reschedule without a Disney imposed change fee. Most room-only and vacation packages can also be modified, or cancelled online, including changes to travel dates. We cannot guarantee availability of similar accommodations for the new travel dates. Disney Lorcana Starter Decks Sell Out in Less Than One Hour at Walt Disney World, Gift Packs in Short Supply

After launching this morning, August 28, at World of Disney in Disney Springs, the Walt Disney World supply of Disney Lorcana Starter Decks is now apparently sold out.

Walt Disney World Sells Out of Disney Lorcana

According to multiple firsthand reports described in the public Disney Lorcana TCG Facebook group, starter decks sold out by 10:30 a.m. ET at World of Disney, while gift packs were in short supply. As of the time of publishing, it is unknown if the gift packs have also all been sold, though crowds in the hundreds and extremely high demand indicate this may be the case.

Purchase limits were put in place, due to the scarcity and popularity of the new trading card game, with only two gift sets and any combination of two starter decks per guest, per day. No discounts were available for these items, as we previously reported, and holds, phone orders, and home shipments were not allowed.

The Latest NEWS and Updates on Tropical Storm Idalia Heading Toward Disney World

Traveling to Disney World during hurricane season comes with a whole different set of circumstances you need to be prepared for.

Disney World rain

A tropical storm watch has been issued for Orange and Osceola Counties, with Tropical Storm Idalia expected to strengthen into a hurricane before it makes landfall in Florida. With the uncertainty of the storm looming, we’re bringing you the latest news and updates you need to know about Tropical Storm Idalia.

It’s time to batten down the hatches — Tropical Storm Idalia is heading for Florida, and Disney World could be impacted. A tropical storm watch has been issued for Orange and Osceola Counties (where Disney World is located) and a state of emergency has been declared for much of Florida. Whether you’ll be in Disney World during the storm or not, we’ll be bringing you the latest updates on the storm as it progresses.

Rain in Magic Kingdom

Tropical Storm Idalia is expected to strengthen into a hurricane late Monday and analysts are predicting Disney World may be impacted. Per WESH news, “Showers, squalls, and thunderstorms associated with outer rain bands from Idalia may reach central Florida by late this afternoon, with conditions further deteriorating Tuesday afternoon and evening as Idalia accelerates north-northeastward across the eastern Gulf of Mexico.”

Rain in EPCOT

Based on the current forecast, Idalia will pass to east-central Florida late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, continuing northeastward throughout the day on Wednesday. Two to four inches of rain are also expected for Orange and Osceola Counties where Disney World is located.

Orlando International Airport has also issued a statement warning of potential delays and cancelations due to the wind speeds and rainfall expected for the area. If you have any upcoming flights planned, it may be a good idea to keep checking your flight status and the latest updates from your airline so you know how to prepare.

As of now, we haven’t seen any updates made to Disney World’s Updates & Information page about Tropical Storm Idalia, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for more news. In the past, Disney has closed the parks but kept certain hotels open for guests to stay safe and hunker down, so it’s possible we could see the same situation arise here.

We’ve been at Disney World during multiple hurricanes, and we’ve got lots of tips on how to prepare for hurricane season at the resort. The most important thing to remember if you’re visiting during a storm like this is to listen to the Cast Members. They’re trained in situations like this to best keep guests safe and Disney will usually have a plan in place.

We’ll continue to monitor the storm as it approaches Florida, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
