The characters stand beneath an awning in front of a garage door adorned with a vibrant painting of a scenic valley. Detailed clouds line the horizon behind a winding river and tall trees. The painting is inspired by traditional Japanese art, more specifically the late Ukiyo-e period. On the door and walls are various San Fransokyo posters and to the sides are garage items like a recycling bin, brooms, and tools. Above some of the supplies is a dismantled version of GoGo Tomago’s bike.
Unlike previous Baymax meet-and-greets, he is now fully interactive. He walks, but also talks, blinks, and makes a few machine sounds.
In the morning, Baymax and Hiro were rotating appearances.
Hiro appears in his classic red shirt, hoodie, and cargo shorts.
Baymax and Hiro later came out together.
We don’t know if Baymax and Hiro will continue to meet separately or together, but for now, keep in mind that if you get in line, you may end up meeting Hiro without Baymax.
We had to get some Baymax hugs.
And he even did the fistbump with us.
Watch our video meeting Hiro and talking to Baymax below.

It’s an exciting day at Disney California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort as San Fransokyo Square has officially opened to all guests! This vibrant area of the park features new sights, shopping, and superb cuisine inspired by the city in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Academy Award-winning film Big Hero 6.
Earlier this month, when I visited San Fransokyo Square, I was so excited to have dinner at Lucky Fortune Cookery, and I’m happy I had the chance because the food was fantastic! The menu here offers Japanese, Vietnamese, and Korean influences in their dishes. I had the Beef Bulgogi Burrito ($13.99), and it was the most delicious thing I ate during the whole trip. The seasoned rice inside the burrito was perfect, and the cabbage slaw provided the fresh crunch to put this dish over the top. The garlic chips on the side reminded me of chicharrones, but the garlic flavor coming through paired well with the burrito. My mom had the Yaki Udon ($13.49) with Mushrooms, Sugar Snap Peas, Roasted Red Peppers, Bok Choy, Dark Soy, and Hoisin Sauces, and she was in her glory. She said everything in the bowl was fresh, and the flavors were delightful. My daughter walked over to Aunt Cass Café for a Boudin bread bowl full of soup. This was her go-to when we used to visit Pacific Wharf and she was so happy that she could still get it. The outdoor seating area made it possible for each of us to get what we wanted and bring our trays over to the same table to eat together. We were only sad that we didn’t have time to eat here a second time!
What I especially loved about roaming through the new area was that a lot of the theming could be seen even though it wasn’t all open yet. Check out these incredible “street art” displays!
The 54-foot-tall San Fransokyo Gate Bridge is the most iconic landmark in the area, and it spans the tide pools linking the seaside plaza to the Paradise Gardens Park obelisk. The local businesses and eateries in the marketplace are decked out in street art and colorful banners celebrating the Big Hero 6 team after their victory over Yokai.
This reimagined area of Disney California Adventure Park transports guests to the not-too-distant future in a fictional mash-up of two iconic cities – San Francisco and Tokyo – where they’ll have the opportunity to meet boy genius Hiro Hamada and his huggable healthcare companion robot, Baymax.
The diverse food and beverages in San Fransokyo Square include guest favorites and new creations inspired by Asian cuisine, as well as the Big Hero 6 themselves. Notice how cool the signage is for the restaurants; even Ghirardelli has Japanese writing on it!
Listed below are all of the food and drink locations throughout the area.
Aunt Cass Café – The second bakery café operated by Hiro’s loving aunt serves dishes, soups in freshly-baked Boudin sourdough bread bowls and more inspired by Japanese cuisine.
Port of San Fransokyo Cervecería – This new location draws inspiration from its tri-cultural influences with signage in English, Japanese and Spanish. An inviting beer garden makes a relaxing setting for guests to enjoy snacks and those 21 and older to sip on a selection of alcoholic beverages.
Lucky Fortune Cookery – Foodies of all ages can choose from a delicious menu of dishes and beverages with Japanese, Vietnamese and Korean influences.
Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill – A variety of street tacos, specialty beverages and a special street corn bring Mexican flair to San Fransokyo Square.
Rita’s Turbine Blenders – Featuring margaritas and icy beverages, this refreshment stand is named after the repair technician who maintains the floating wind turbine, resembling a giant koi fish, that sits atop the structure.
Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop – Hot fudge, made with melted Ghirardelli chocolate, sits atop signature sundaes, ice cream cones, shakes and more.
Cappuccino Cart – A cart near the San Fransokyo Gate Bridge offers energizing pick-me-ups presented by Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Company, such as cold brew, espressos, coffee cocktails and more.
Guests will also find unique shopping locations.
San Fransokyo Maker’s Market – Situated on robot storage cases with decommissioned bots on display, this storefront is stocked with apparel, homewares and more featuring Baymax and friends.
Collectible medallions – A vending machine dispenses collectible golden medallions depicting Baymax and other iconic images from San Fransokyo.
Pan Pacific Pin Traders – Guests can shop and trade at this “pin-credible” port of call near the San Fransokyo Gate Bridge.

Baymax Bread is now available in San Fransokyo Square, which has officially taken over Pacific Wharf at Disney California Adventure. Baymax Bread can be found at the Boudin Bread Cart and Aunt Cass Café.
Baymax Bread – $11.99
The bread comes in a plastic bag to keep it fresh.
It’s shaped like Baymax, complete with a fluffy stomach and black eyes made of chocolate chips.
This is your standard Boudin sourdough that you can get as a loaf, roll, baguette, bread bowl, or Mickey-shaped bread throughout Disney California Adventure.
The Baymax sipper is also available at the Boudin Bread Cart, Aunt Cass Cafe, and other San Fransokyo Square dining locations.
The new land officially opened on August 31 and includes no rides, though it does have themed food and merchandise, as well as a talking Baymax meet and greet.
