More decorations have been added to Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel as it slowly becomes the Pixar Place Hotel. The reimagining was announced in April 2022 and is set to be completed this winter, celebrating the various films and characters of Pixar Animation Studios. The hotel remains open and operating during the update.
Pixar Ball Lights at Paradise Pier Hotel
New lights have been installed on the sidewalk outside the hotel. The lights resemble the iconic Pixar ball, with a stripe around the middle and a star on the side.
The ball lights are atop black posts of varying heights next to a sidewalk that is currently closed for construction.
Great Maple Restaurant
While the Pixar reimagining is underway, a new non-Pixar-related restaurant is also under construction at the hotel: Great Maple.
White beams have been installed for a kind of porte-cochère entrance to Great Maple. An A-frame roof is atop the center beams.
Large red, blue, and yellow circles are above the restaurant, matching the Pixar Place color scheme.
Great Maple is set to open this fall. This Southern California-based modern American eatery specializes in playful takes on upscale comfort food. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day, the ground-floor restaurant will be open to the public.
Dishes will include Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Maple Bacon Doughnuts, the Cajun Shrimp & Cheddar Biscuit Benedict, and the Soda Pop-Braised Baby Back Ribs. Great Maple will also have a full bar, including beer, wine, and cocktails.
Great Maple will also provide food and beverage service at the pool, as well as a new grab ‘n’ go coffee shop and café near the lobby, and, eventually, at the hotel’s new concierge lounge.
Pixar Place Hotel Details
The latest area of Pixar Place to be completed is the “Finding Nemo” slide, splash pad, and pool area, a.k.a. Nemo’s Cove. Crush now adorns the top of the waterslide, which leads down to a splash pad decorated with “Finding Nemo” characters. Pixel Pool is surrounded by more of Pixar’s primary color scheme and fire pits inspired by fiery Pixar characters like Anger from “Inside Out” and Ember from “Elemental.”
Pixar Place Hotel concept art also shows Luxo Jr. (the Pixar lamp) and a character mobile in the entryway and a family play court with “Bao” inspiration.
Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel originally opened in 1984 as the Emerald of Anaheim. Disney purchased the hotel in 1995 and renamed it the Disneyland Pacific Hotel. With the opening of Disney California Adventure and its Paradise Pier land in 2001, the hotel received its current Paradise Pier Hotel name. The actual Paradise Pier land has since become Pixar Pier.

A new Ahsoka MagicBand+ is available at Disneyland Resort. We found it at the merchandise cart between Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the middle entrance of three access points for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park.
This merchandise cart usually opens around 10:30 a.m. and offers various “Star Wars” items.
Ahsoka MagicBand+ $54.99
The MagicBand+ is inspired by Ahsoka’s appearance.
The center puck is orange with the white diamonds of Ahsoka’s face markings. She uses these markings as her Fulcrum symbol during “Star Wars Rebels.”
The rest of the band is white, with jagged blue stripes.
The striped sections represent Ahsoka’s lekku — three head tails she has as a member of the Togruta species.
Will you be using this latest MagicBand+? Let us know in the comments.
‘Ahsoka’ Disney+ Series
The new live-action “Ahsoka” series debuted on Disney+ this week. Rosario Dawson reprises her role as Ahsoka Tano, with Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Hayden Christensen returning as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.
Ashley Eckstein originally voiced Ahsoka in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels.” Dawson previously appeared as the live-action Ahsoka in “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett.”
This series is a spin-off from “The Mandalorian,” but also follows up on the cliffhanger of “Star Wars Rebels.” At the end of “Rebels,” main character Ezra Bridger sacrifices himself to defeat Grand Admiral Thrawn by jumping into hyperspace with the purrgil (space whales). His friends Sabine Wren and Ahsoka Tano then vow to find him. The series ended five years ago, so fans have been waiting awhile to find out what happens next.
