REVIEW: We Ate EVERYTHING at Casey’s Corner in Disney World

We’ve said it before — Magic Kingdom can be seriously lacking in the good eats department (compared to other Disney World parks, at least!)

Cinderella Castle

But, amidst the dismal display of delicious dishes in this park, one restaurant shines as a beacon of hope and all things good. It’s there when you’re looking for a snack, a full meal, a sweet treat, and even something to cool down with. We are, of course, talking about Casey’s Corner on Main Street, U.S.A. — and we’re taking you with us to eat everything (okay, mostly everything, but whatever.)

Atmosphere

Get ready to play ball because we’re heading to Casey’s Corner! This quick-service spot is baseball themed, and memorializes the famous poem, Casey at the Bat. Casey’s sells your favorite ballpark foods: hot dogs and fries, and a few twists like the spot’s famous Corn Dog Nuggets.

Casey’s Corner

Since this is a quick-service restaurant, you’ll place your order at the counter and pick it up from another window. You might run into some lines during busy meal times, and Casey’s is a pretty popular spot. There are quite a few outdoor tables with umbrellas, and those tend to fill up too — so keep your eyes peeled if you’re looking for a spot to sit!

Counter at Casey’s Corner

In addition to outdoor tables, Casey’s has a small amount of indoor seating. You’ll find some counters with bar stools (or stand if you want!) along with small tables and chairs here and there. Despite the restaurant being pretty roomy, there aren’t many places to eat inside. Our favorite place to sit and eat our corn dog nugs is on the hub grass in front of the castle!

Casey’s seating

Sitting outside at Casey’s might mean you’re in the heat depending on when you visit, but it also means you may get to hear the sweet ragtime tunes from the Casey’s Corner piano player!

Menu

As we mentioned, it’s mostly ballpark food here: hot dogs, french fries, corn dog nuggets, and more. But, there are some specialty dogs on the menu that you might not find anywhere else. Depending on when you visit, there may be different specialty dogs available — like the Chipotle Barbecue All-Beef Hot Dog.

©Disney

And don’t think that just because this is a hot dog spot it means plant-based eaters won’t have anything to eat — they even have some plant-based hot dogs!

©Disney

You can also grab chili-cheese fries, regular fries, chili, and yes — our beloved plastic cheese.

©Disney

There’s a specialty Frozen Mint Julep Lemonade on the menu…

©Disney

…as well as your typical assortment of fountain beverages and other nonalcoholic drinks.

©Disney

Enough of the menu, what are we eating and drinking today?!

Drinks

For a drink, we grabbed the Frozen Mint Julep Lemonade for $6.49. This is a blended mint julep with Minute Maid Lemonade and fresh mint leaves, cherry, and lemon. It’s basically a minty frozen lemonade! Extremely refreshing and perfect on a summer Magic Kingdom day — or whenever.

Frozen Mint Julep

If you’ve had a Disneyland Mint Julep, this is pretty comparable to that. It’s on the sweeter side and not as tart as a plain ol’ lemonade, but it really hit the spot.

Eats

Can hot dogs be pretty? Because this Chicago Dog is pretty. This is $12.29 and is an All-Beef hot dog topped with traditional Chicago green relish, red onion, diced tomatoes, and yellow mustard. You can also get this in a foot long if you’re feeling particularly ravenous.

This is the perfect mix of relish, onions, mustard, and tomatoes all mixed together — and the hot dog itself has a great snap to it. If you’re from Chicago, you might not like this as it’s probably not the most authentic representation, but we definitely enjoyed it and would get it again.

Chicago Dog

We also grabbed the Plant-Based Slaw Dog which is a plant-based sausage topped with slaw made of corn, cabbage, red onion, and vegan aioli. We think even meat-eaters would like this one — it’s packed with flavor.

The hot dog itself is on the sweet side, but that is immediately cut by the savory elements of the slaw. The roasted corn adds a nice smokiness, and we love the creaminess of the vegan aioli. Plant-based eaters should give this one a try as it’s a bit of an upgrade from just french fries!

Plant Based Slaw Dog

And of course, we grabbed some Corn Dog Nuggets for $10.49 and a side of plastic cheese sauce for $1. This is one of our favorite snacks or meals in all of Disney World — we just keep coming back.

What’s not to love about these? Tiny little hot dogs blanketed in a deliciously pillowy cornmeal batter. So fluffy on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside. Dip them in ketchup, dip them in mustard — or our personal favorite: a side of cheese sauce! If you like corn dogs, this is a fun twist on them. You can get them without the side of fries if you’re just feelin’ a snack.

Corn dog nuggets and plastic cheese — what could be better?

We had to get Chili Cheese Fries, too — you know, for science. These are $6.49 and come topped with Walt’s Chili and shredded cheese.

The fries are what you’ll find at most Disney World restaurants — they’re thin, crispy, and usually have a good amount of salt on them. Walt’s Chili is a classic Disney staple, and it pairs really well with the french fries. The chili is heavy on the beans, so if you’re not a bean fan you may want to steer clear of this. The shredded cheese is a nice touch, but we kind of wish these came with the plastic cheese sauce on top instead!

Chili cheese fries

And for dessert, we grabbed the iconic Baseball Brownie for $4.29. For being your typical pre-made Disney World brownie, this was pretty good! It’s on the fudgy side rather than being fluffy like a cake, and the baseball icing is just adorable.

The icing does get a bit melty, but we ended up kind of liking that. It made what might normally be a grainy, sugary icing more like a glaze. We wouldn’t necessarily go out of our way to get this brownie from Casey’s, but if we’re grabbing some corn dog nugs and want something sweet, this will hit the spot!

Baseball Brownie

Well, does Casey’s knock it out of the park or what?

Nosh or Not?

You should eat at Casey’s Corner if…

  • You’re looking for something quick and familiar that will keep you full for a while.
  • You love all things hot dogs, corn dog nuggets, and plastic cheese-related.
  • You have kiddos or other people in your group who might be picky.

You should skip Casey’s Corner if…

  • You want something a little more “off the beaten path.”
  • You’re looking for a restaurant where you can take a break in the AC for a while.
  • You don’t want hot dogs or something greasy — that’s pretty much all you’ll find here.

Overall

There’s a reason this fast-food spot is so popular — but at the end of the day, you’re getting hot dogs, corn dogs, and french fries. No matter how delicious it may be, it’s what you might consider to be “theme park food.” Magic Kingdom can be lacking in the good eats department compared to the other parks, but Casey’s is always consistent and an old standby. Plus, being able to use Mobile Order is a huge bonus that can save you some serious time during your day.

Casey’s Corner full spread

Everybody’s Freaking Out About This Tiana’s Palace “Problem”…But It’s All Gonna Be OK

Two of the most loyal fanbases are those who love Disneyland, and those who love Mickey Beignets.

Mickey-shaped Beignets from Mint Julep Bar

Exciting things are happening over at Disney’s West Coast park, and they have something to do with one of our favorite Princesses. Yep, we’re talking about the upcoming opening of Tiana’s Palace Restaurant! The all-new Princess and the Frog-inspired eatery is set to open on September 7th, and Disney fans REJOICED on August 23rd when the menu was finally released. Except… There’s one problem. WHERE are the Mickey Beignets?!

So, previously, French Market Restaurant stood where Tiana’s Palace will be opening. Attached to French Market was Mint Julep Bar, which was the spot to get the Mickey Beignets. Mint Julep closed when French Market did, so many fans panicked just a bit when Mickey Beignets didn’t pop up on the Tiana’s Palace Menu.

Currently, you can grab Mickey Beignets at Royal Street Veranda. However, there is more comforting beignet news. Mint Julep Bar will reopen with Tiana’s Palace! Yep, a lot of people tend to forget about this in all the excitement over the new restaurant, but rest assured that you’ll be able to get your Mickey Beignets in the same spot as usual.

If you’re up for a twist on the classic dessert, though, you can try out the all-new House-filled Beignet that will be available at Tiana’s Palace. This is a classic beignet that’s been filled with lemon ice box filling and topped with a sweet lemon glaze. YUM. You might just have to pregame your beignets with more beignets. We won’t tell! 🤫

Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Map Packaging Hints at Haunted Mansion Bar, ‘Coco’ Dinner Show, Spider-Man, and More

Some adventurers received a Disney Treasure map chock full of Easter eggs from Disney Cruise Line today. The map’s packaging also had a few teasers.

Scott Gustin shared photos of the stamps on the packaging.

The stamps reference:

  • Neverland (Peter Pan and Captain Hook will be on the ship’s stern)
  • Jungle Cruise
  • Moana
  • Castaway Cay (Disney Cruise Line’s private island)
  • The Haunted Mansion (a Haunted Mansion bar and lounge are rumored for the ship)
  • Spider-Man (Worlds of Marvel will reportedly be on the ship with a new show)
  • Coco (it’s rumored there will be a “Coco” dinner show)
  • Aladdin (the atrium is Agrabah-inspired)

Fans who received the map had to open a puzzle box from adventurer Arthur Quinn. Disney Cruise Line Blog provided the text of his letter, below:

My friend,

It’s been too long since our paths have crossed. I recall the first time we met, deep in a thicket along the Nile River basin, both of us having followed the same family of hippos unbeknownst to one another! It is one of my fondest memories, watching the hippo matriarch soak you hat to sock with river water bubbles! What a scrambled misadventure!

I have heard tale of your continued expeditions and am glad to see the spirit of adventure still alive and well in you! Which is why I am reaching out to you now. There is an important and very special adventure I just recently experienced and must share with you. It was, in a word, magical.

I must remind you, soon-to-be-dear-friend, that I am a pragmatic sort. I do not use the word magical frivolously.

Of course, you know my grandmother, Hana Quinn, the most legendary of all the Quinn Family. She who helmed mighty sea adventures, tracing the path of captain Nemo’s Nautilus, traversed the great Amazon rainforest (on foot), and spelunked down the most wondrous jewel-bedecked cave near Agrabah. My grandmother sparked the spirit of exploration in the hearts of our whole family. Well, the very special quest I allude to was discovered in her study.

Normally I’d regale you with the details of this enterprise, but I need you to experience it yourself, and corroborate my own immense enchantment.

Enclosed is a treasure map that will lead you to the priceless something I didn’t know I lacked until It was there in my arms| A treasure that must be treasured, haha!

I hope this serves to tantalize you into solving the little riddle I’ve left you on the back of this letter. My grandmother always asked if we had “packed enough” of this extra special, hard-to-measure but very important necessity for our journey, and us Quinns would laugh and proclaim the answer immediately in unison. That one word answer to my riddle and to grandmother’s question is the passcode you will use on the world wide web, where the journey will begin. A world-wise explorer such as yourself should have no trouble.

Trust me. It’ll be worth it.

Yours in adventure,

Arthur Quinn

P.S. Having trouble opening the little treasure box I’ve enclosed?

Just remember that sometimes the KEY that unlocks a great adventure is hidden just out of sight. Get a new ANGLE on the situation.
