We’ve all been there — you’re on a long flight and your child is having a meltdown, or you’re hearing another child get upset.
It’s not a fun situation for anyone involved, and it could be even worse on long flights, such as international ones. Now, one airline has decided to try something new to address this situation: they’re testing child-free zones on flights.
According to USA Today, Corendon Airlines (based in Turkey) is going to test flights with a sectioned-off area for adults only. These seats in this adults-only area will cost around $108 USD, whereas the normal flight seats will cost around $49. Each flight will have nine seats in this sectioned-off area, only for passengers ages 16 and older.
Starting in November, the airline will be testing this new way of flying on the 10-hour journey from Amsterdam to Curaçao. The seats will be located at the front of the aircraft and will all have extra legroom as well. Walls and curtains will separate this section from the rest 0f the plane.
We’re curious about how well this will work and whether you’d still be able to hear screaming children since they’re still on the plane, just in a different section. We’ll just have to wait and see!
The new idea has been criticized by some while also being praised by both parents and childless passengers on Instagram. Could this make its way to the United States and beyond? We’ll have to see — in the meantime, check out more recent travel news below!
