The Mayor of Halloween Town has taken the mayor-mobile out of its normal surroundings and into Walt Disney World Resort. The mayor, his car, and a number of characters from “The Nightmare Before Christmas” are depicted as part of a new popcorn bucket available exclusively at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom.
Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Mayor’s Car Bucket – $28.00
We found the bucket, only available for purchase during times at which Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is occurring, at the Castle Hub Refreshment Cart.
The bucket is an effective visual recreation of the mayor’s car as it’s seen in the 1993 film. The Mayor of Halloween Town appears in the driver’s seat, flanked on all sides by other characters from the film. On one side, Barrel looks out from the window in front of an orange curtain as Zero (Jack Skellington’s dog) floats overhead.
Shock looks out of the window on the other side of the vehicle, holding her smile-less mask and donning her witch-like hat.
Scary Teddy peers out the back of the car.
Completing the Oogie’s Boys trio is Lock, who lies on a hatch on the roof of the car. The hatch, which is surrounded by black finial fence tops, can be opened and gives way to a deep pocket in which the actual popcorn is held.
The front of the car allows us to look inside the black-and-white striped horn that sits atop the mayor’s car. Adding variety to the largely gray color profile are the pumpkin headlights that light up when the car is rolled on its functional wheels. The lights in the back of the car light up when rolled, as well.
The Mayor’s head spins as you wheel it along, just as it does in the Henry Selick-directed feature. Attached to the front and back of the car is a black lanyard that has “The Nightmare Before Christmas” logo printed across it.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party serves as Walt Disney World Resort’s premiere autumn celebration and runs on selected dates between August 11 and November 1. The event offers a number of exclusive food and entertainment options in addition to dedicated merchandise; one such entertainment option is Disney’s-Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, hosted by Jack Skellington from “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade is performed twice nightly, and guests can also enjoy the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular. Trick or treating is available at numerous locations at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and guests can even interact with rarely-seen characters or their favorites wearing their finest Halloween costumes. Jack Skellington and Sally typically appear at the parties, and if you simply can’t get enough of “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” there will be a “The Nightmare Before Christmas” sing-along at Disney Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
