With San Fransokyo Square’s opening date just a little more than a week away at Disney California Adventure, the last-minute touches are starting to appear throughout the land. Let’s take a look.
Torii Gate Bridge Nears Completion
Since our last update, it appears as though the Torii Gate Bridge in San Fransokyo Square is nearly complete.
Four of the six horizontal beams now have their “international orange” decorative paneling installed.
We didn’t see crews actively working during our visit, but they only have two more beams left to cover.
Two cherry pickers are in this area, likely to aid construction crews work on both sides at the same time, as we saw in our last update.
In this photo, you can get a good glimpse at the rectangular gaps in the horizontal beams. These likely allow workers to secure the beam to its vertical supports.
During our visit, we saw the second level of the horizontal beams were wrapped with support straps, likely to aid in keeping everything together after the fresh installation.
This is the primary entrance bridge to the land, and remains closed off to guests during its update.
Baymax Sticker Added to Pan-Pacific Pin Traders
Are you satisfied with your pin trades? While visiting San Fransokyo Square, we spotted this new Baymax sticker added to a sign at Pan-Pacific Pin Traders.
The medallion-like sticker features Baymax in the Disney Parks Pin Trading logo, alongside Japanese characters that translate to “pin trading.”
More Painted Signage Added to Rita’s Turbine Blenders
More painted signage has also gone up at Rita’s over the past month. Small details have been added slowly over time, but our latest look at the décor really feels like we’re close to, if not having reached, completion.
The 3-D sign for Rita’s Turbine Blenders recently had turbines added.
Orange awning was also added to the building recently. In this photo, you can also see small details that were recently added, like the pointy starburst shapes around words and Japanese characters.
More New Signage in San Fransokyo Square
More signage has also been spotted behind construction walls in the reimagined land, like these two signs at the San Fransokyo Maker’s Market, which say “San Fransokyo” in English and Japanese, respectively.
According to the concept art, we’re still missing the banners above in the rafters — one of which featuring Hiro’s Megabot.
We also noticed signage for Hamada Bot Shop, where guests will be able to meet and interact with Hiro and Baymax.
Here’s a closer look at the sign.
We also noticed a new painted sign advertising nightly karaoke at Cocina Cucamonga, featuring DJ Music Dude. While not an actual offering in the land, we imagine it would be fun!
San Fransokyo Square officially opens at Disney California Adventure on August 31. Are you excited to see the final product? Let us know what you’re most excited to see in the comments.
