Final touches are being added to San Fransokyo Square in Disney California Adventure, which is set to have its grand opening on August 31, but some offerings are already available. The land is a complete re-theme of Pacific Wharf, now inspired by the setting of “Big Hero 6.”
Torii Gate Bridge
The iconic Torii Gate Bridge, inspired by the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco but with two torii gates, is now open for guests to enter the land.
A “San Fransokyo Square” sign is above this side of the bridge.
The bridge is a reddish-orange color, while “San Fransokyo Square” is in white lettering.
Strings of light hang from the torii gates. We’ll see these illuminated at night.
San Fransokyo Square Signs
On this lamppost is a simple “San Fransokyo Square” sign.
Below that is a red stop sign and a sign showing Baymax crossing the road with a child.
Ghiradelli
A week ago, a new Ghiradelli sign featuring “chocolate” in Japanese was added atop the chocolate shop.
Now the balcony is strung with red paper lanterns.
On the roof with the sign is a new koi fish wind turbine, similar to the one on Rita’s Turbine Blenders.
This fish is blue, white, and gold, with the logo for Ghiradelli Chocolate on the side.
More paper lanterns are strung over the sidewalk.
Aunt Cass Café Signs
Another sign with Japanese characters now hangs outside the Bakery Tour.
The rectangular sign is red with a white border and black characters.
It’s actually for the neighboring Aunt Cass Café.
The other side has “Aunt Cass Café” in English. Aunt Cass Café is a re-theme of Pacific Wharf Café.
Another sign hangs further down the walkway.
This one features the same Japanese characters, below the Boudin Sourdough logo.
“Aunt Cass Café” is on the other side.
The café has not opened, but we could see more matching signs behind the outdoor seating area.
Travel posters were also recently added to San Fransokyo Square.
San Fransokyo Square
Pre-existing Pacific Wharf locations like the Cappuccino Cart and The Bakery Tour are now decked out in street art and colorful banners celebrating the “Big Hero 6” team. Baymax Bread will be available at the Boudin Bread Cart.
Guests will be able to interact with Hiro and Baymax (who will talk) outside the Hamada Bot Shop. Nearby will be the San Fransokyo Maker’s Market, a storefront stocked with unique apparel, homewares, and more featuring Baymax and friends.
Across from the Maker’s Market, vending machines will offer golden medallions featuring Baymax and other San Fransokyo images.
An old fishing net tannery across from Aunt Cass Café is Rita’s Turbine Blenders, a giant drink dispenser offering margaritas and icy beverages. This refreshment stand is owned by and named after the repair technician who maintains the floating wind turbine, resembling a giant koi fish, that sits atop the structure. Be sure to read our recent Rita’s Turbine Blenders review.
New “Big Hero 6”-inspired items were added to the menus of Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill and Lucky Fortune Cookery, which serves a Baymax macaron. The Port of San Fransokyo Cervecería with Karl Strauss drinks and pinwheel chips also recently opened.
During Oogie Boogie Bash, Yokai will appear in San Fransokyo Square.
