Bello! Minion Land is officially open at Universal Studios Florida. This newly rethemed area of the park consists of several dining and shopping locations, a character meet and greet, and a brand new attraction, Villain-Con Minion Blast. The land had been going through technical rehearsals in phases over the summer, but now that Minion Land is officially open, there have been a few last minute updates. One of the most surprising updates surrounds the opening of the new attraction.
Universal Express Now Accepted at Villain-Con Minion Blast
Even though Villain-Con only just opened, the attraction is now accepting Universal Express passes. When a new attraction opens at Universal Orlando, it typically does not accept Express due to the high demand and large crowds.
It’s surprising to see a brand new attraction open and immediately begin accepting Express, though Villain-Con appears to have a high capacity and wait times aren’t very long. Jurassic World VelociCoaster opened in June of 2021 and started accepting Express Passes this year. Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure has been open since 2019, but is one of the only attractions that is not included with your Universal Express Pass.
V6 Interactive Medallions Installed in Minion Land
Illumination Villain-Con Minion Blast uses connected gameplay through the Universal app to sync and customize your blaster on the attraction. Complete missions, collect loot, and more by creating a profile through the Universal Orlando app.
As you go around Minion Land, keep an eye out for newly added Vicious 6 medallions to scan and collect loot. There are hints in the app to help you find each location, or you can just keep your eyes peeled for the round “V6” logos. Open the app and scan the medallion to see what collectible item you’ve picked up for your collection. We won’t spoil the locations for you, but here is the symbol you will be searching for. Minion Cafe Sign Finally Completed
Minion Cafe has become wildly popular since it soft opened earlier this summer. The restaurant sign looked finished, but to our surprise, the Minion Cafe sign would get one more upgrade just in time for the grand opening. Now, the Minion Cafe sign is finally completed.
The sign looked finished, but the letters for “cafe” were only temporary placeholders during technical rehearsals. Now, the letters have been updated to sculpted figures of kitchen appliances.
The “C” is a food mixer with teeth and a bowl of fruit. Curly, tangled wires around the appliances add to the craziness of the text. Of course, there are bananas in that bowl.
The “A” is a toaster with waffles popping up and colorful buttons and dials all over.
The detailing on each of the letters is what you would expect from the Minions. The hand mixer has fluffy pink frosting on the beaters.
And finally, the “E” looks like a coffee machine. There’s coffee beans visible on the side and a cup witting on the edge. These wacky letters add a lot of personality to the building.
