A handful of new sweet and savory treats have arrived at Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and we paid a visit to try them all.
New Treats at Contempo Cafe
Minnie Cinnamon Roll – $7.79
cinnamon roll dipped in white chocolate with sprinkles and edible bow
There is nothing fancy about this Minnie Cinnamon Roll to us; it’s just your average cinnamon roll dipped in white chocolate.
We prefer the cinnamon roll available at Starbucks, as it’s crispier than this one. If you prefer a more moist and dense cinnamon roll, this is for you.
Churro Sugar Cookie – $4.49
cinnamon-sugar cookie with cinnamon buttercream topped with cinnamon cereal
This cookie has more of a Cinnamon Toast Crunch flavor than a traditional churro flavor, thanks to the cereal pieces on top. The actual cookie is Snickerdoodle.
As for texture, it’s more on the crunchy side and not very moist.
We’re not big fans of icing, but the cinnamon flavored buttercream hits the spot. Even still, this has a lot of sugar.
Kitchen Sink Cookie – $4.29
chocolate chunk cookie with toffee, peanut butter chips, salted caramel, and flaky salt
This is a well-baked, elevated take on a chocolate chip cookie, thanks to the peanut butter chips, sea salt, and caramel. It’s soft and gooey on the inside but still has a nice crunch on the outside.
And the chocolate chips were Mickey-shaped, which is a huge plus!
The peanut flavor is super strong here, and almost made us want to go back for seconds, despite the overwhelming amount of sugar we had. This is sure to please more chocolate lovers or those that enjoy peanut butter flavor.
Peanut Butter-Chocolate Chunk Cookie – $4.49
chocolate chunk cookie topped with peanut butter buttercream
This cookie is not too sweet, but just right.
The peanut butter flavor really comes through, offering a bit of a savory balance to the sweetness of the Mickey-shaped dark chocolate chips.
The icing is peanut butter flavored, and we found it to be perfectly balanced between savory and sweet. The scent of the peanut butter is also quite strong with this cookie.
Seasonal Sugar Cookie – $4.49
currently a strawberry lemonade Sugar cookie with strawberry icing, star confetti sprinkles, and strawberry Nerds candy
This is the best cookie of the bunch that we tried today.
The sugar cookie itself is so light and crunchy.
The icing on this is strawberry flavored, with strawberry Nerds candy sprinkled on top, which offers a nice hint of sour flavor to contrast the sweet.
Monorail S’mores Brownie – $5.79
fudgy brownie with a graham cracker crust topped with marshmallow crème and chocolate décor
This Monorail S’mores Brownie is definitely crispy and gooey.
The graham cracker on the bottom gives a nice crunch.
The Monorail is molded out of white chocolate, and can be eaten by itself.
The marshmallow crème on top is a highlight of the whole dessert.
If you love brownies, you’ll definitely want to try this.
5 Legged Goat Fruit Tart – $6.29
vanilla tart shell filled with raspberry-lemon curd topped with fresh fruit and lemon whipped cream
This fruit tart is very sweet and refreshing, almost like eating a solid take on raspberry lemonade.
We also count this among the best things we’ve tried today, and would get this again.
Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums Cupcake – $6.49
chocolate cupcake topped with chocolate chip cookie dough mousse
To our surprise, this cupcake is good!
As you can see, it’s quite large. We didn’t enjoy it until we got to the top of the cupcake, which tastes like cheesecake. This elevated the entire experience for us.
This could easily make the top three cheesecake options across Walt Disney World that we’ve tried.
The chocolate cupcake part, however, is just okay. Nothing incredible, just your regular Disney chocolate cupcake.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar – $5.99
chocolate crust, peanut butter cream filling, and chocolate ganache topped with plant-based strawberry whipped cream and strawberry crisps (plant-based and gluten/wheat-friendly)
This tastes like homemade peanut butter cups, thanks to the layer of peanut butter cream filling sandwiched between two layers of chocolate.
It comes topped with strawberry whipped cream, which is an interesting pairing to the chocolate and peanut butter.
If you love the combination of peanut butter and chocolate, this treat is for you.
Overall, these new treats can be hit and miss depending on what you get, but if you’re a fan of sweet and savory, most are worth a try.
