As a family, we’ve always loved adventures and exploring new places. So, when we decided to visit Discovery Cove, we were all excited, especially because snorkeling was on the agenda.

Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a warm and welcoming lobby where we could grab some complimentary coffee and water – a nice touch to start the day. One of the highlights of Discovery Cove is that breakfast and lunch are included in the package, which meant we could focus more on having fun and less on where to eat.

We quickly learned that vests or wetsuits were no longer required for the freshwater Oasis and Stingray Reef. This came as good news to us, as it meant less hassle and more freedom to move around. Lockers were provided too, which was quite convenient.

Discovery Cove also boasts two gift shops, a bar called Hibiscus Hideaway, and a pizza window – all of which added to our day’s enjoyment.

We had booked a cabana which came with a fridge, locker, and hammock. The best part? It offered a spectacular view of the dolphin swim area. The cabana also came with a customizable buoy and a treasure chest full of snacks – an exciting surprise for the kids.

The Grand Reef was a bit crowded, but we found a great spot to watch rays swim. Lunch was a delightful experience featuring coconut-crusted salmon, Mojo Pork with Caribbean rice, and lemon poppy cake for dessert.

 

While the rest of the family decided to hit the Lazy River, I ventured into the Aviary to feed some birds. After washing my hands (an essential step before feeding the birds), I got to interact with various types of birds. Watching otters playing in their habitat and dolphins frolicking with a new toy in their lagoon were other memorable moments.

A word of caution – if you’re using the provided sunscreen, remember to reapply often.

Having to leave at the end of the day was bittersweet, but overall, it was a fantastic experience. For anyone planning a trip to Discovery Cove, I’d recommend checking for discounted days when booking. It’s a great way to enjoy this amazing place without breaking the bank.
