With the uncertainty of the storm looming, we’re bringing you the latest news and updates you need to know about Tropical Storm Idalia.
It’s time to batten down the hatches — Tropical Storm Idalia is heading for Florida, and Disney World could be impacted. A tropical storm watch has been issued for Orange and Osceola Counties (where Disney World is located) and a state of emergency has been declared for much of Florida. Whether you’ll be in Disney World during the storm or not, we’ll be bringing you the latest updates on the storm as it progresses.
Tropical Storm Idalia is expected to strengthen into a hurricane late Monday and analysts are predicting Disney World may be impacted. Per WESH news, “Showers, squalls, and thunderstorms associated with outer rain bands from Idalia may reach central Florida by late this afternoon, with conditions further deteriorating Tuesday afternoon and evening as Idalia accelerates north-northeastward across the eastern Gulf of Mexico.”
Based on the current forecast, Idalia will pass to east-central Florida late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, continuing northeastward throughout the day on Wednesday. Two to four inches of rain are also expected for Orange and Osceola Counties where Disney World is located.
Orlando International Airport has also issued a statement warning of potential delays and cancelations due to the wind speeds and rainfall expected for the area. If you have any upcoming flights planned, it may be a good idea to keep checking your flight status and the latest updates from your airline so you know how to prepare.
While we continue to monitor Tropical Storm Idalia, here’s a friendly reminder that with safety in mind, delays/cancellations are likely to occur with heavy rainfall & gusty winds in the area. Please check directly with your airline for any updates in regards to your flight. https://t.co/g35vBnT3JH

As of now, we haven’t seen any updates made to Disney World’s Updates & Information page about Tropical Storm Idalia, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for more news. In the past, Disney has closed the parks but kept certain hotels open for guests to stay safe and hunker down, so it’s possible we could see the same situation arise here.
