We might not always realize it, but food plays a HUGE part in our day — especially in Disney World! Picture this: it’s 3PM, you’re hot, sweaty, and haven’t had any protein all day. You’ve been surviving on Joffrey’s coffee, some popcorn, and a Mickey Bar so far, and you’ve got a Genie+ Lightning Lane smack in the middle of your normal dinner time. Even the nicest person in the world starts feeling a little hangry around this time; it’s inevitable.
What happens when people are dehydrated, hungry, and exhausted? Bad things happen. But you’re NOT going to make that mistake because you’re here, reading this post, and you’re ready to learn how to take your trip from AWFUL to AWESOME. You’re welcome.
Do NOT make the same fatal mistake we see time and time again in Disney World — take the time to pause for some real food. We love those colossal cinnamon rolls just as much as everyone else, but they aren’t going to help your body survive a full park day.
So, what’s the one thing that can save the day? Mobile order! Why are we so obsessed with mobile order? Well, let us explain.
First of all, we’ve noticed that many families these days don’t want to spend the time (or the money) at a sit-down table-service restaurant in Disney World. The process of snagging a reservation can be competitive sometimes, and it’s hard to sacrifice so much time on one meal. Instead, we’re seeing people look for quick-service meals around Disney World.
But here’s the problem. SO many people are choosing to dine at Disney’s quick-service spots that the lines can get seriously long! Not only that, but without a reservation to guarantee you a table, it can be hard to find a place to eat. Some dining locations (like Casey’s Corner and Sleepy Hollow) have limited seating, making it nearly impossible to find a table for your heavy tray of food.
Luckily, Disney created a mobile order system to help combat the lunch rush. Instead of rolling up to Pecos Bill’s at 12:30 in the afternoon with everyone else, you can place your order first thing in the morning, reserve a pickup time slot, and breeze right past the line when your food is ready. Now THAT’S the dream.
That said, there are a few things you need to know about mobile orders. First of all, on a busy day, those pre-scheduled pickup time slots can fill up. If you wait until the last minute to place your order, you might not be able to pick up your food right away. We recommend placing those mobile orders as far ahead of time as possible to ensure that your desired time slot is available.
Additionally, we should note that there are some limits to what you can mobile order. Sometimes Disney doesn’t list the allergy-friendly dishes on the mobile order menu, so you’ll need to order those at the registers. Plus, some limited-time items don’t make it on the mobile order menu, so you might not always be getting the FULL menu.
Despite its limitations, we still HIGHLY recommend using mobile order whenever possible in Disney World. It’s the easiest way to save a little time and stay out of line! Think of it like a FastPass for your food.
In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
