Could the Disney World Skyliner temporarily CLOSE in early 2024?
Although Disney hasn’t announced any official closures yet, we’ve seen a BIG clue that a refurbishment could be coming up soon.
The Disney Skyliner is a convenient way to get around Disney World. It has stops at EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort, and one stop for Disney’s Pop Century and Art of Animation Resorts.
This transportation system might have a temporary closure in early 2024. Disney hasn’t made any announcements yet, but we saw refurbishment closures in both 2022 and 2023. In 2022, the Skyliner was closed from January 23rd through January 28th, and in 2023 it was closed from January 22nd through the 29th.
For those closures, Cast Members informed us that the Skyliner was undergoing routine maintenance. So if that routine continues, we’ll probably see another closure in late January 2024.
If you’re heading to the parks next January, keep this in mind — you may want a backup plan for alternate transportation, just in case! Remember that EPCOT is within walking distance of a few hotels, and so is Magic Kingdom.
You also always have the option of taking a Disney bus, the Monorail, or a boat, depending on your location and destination. If the Skyliner does close, Disney will point you to the alternate transportation that is available to replace it.
And if you’re trying to get somewhere in a hurry, consider using a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft.
We’ll be watching for any official announcements about a possible closure, so stay tuned to DFB!
