Let’s be real. Disney World can get HOT.
And we don’t mean “Oh, put on a tank top” hot. We mean, you’ll be sweating through that tank top, you’ll want cooling towels and neck fans, and you absolutely MUST stay hydrated for the sake of your health-level of heat. While an ordinary summer day can be quite hot at Disney World, things are going to a whole other level right now.
Brian Shields, a meteorologist at WFTV, has shared that this is set to be the HOTTEST week of the year with a heat index as high as 115 degrees in Florida.

In fact, according to the Apple weather app, at around 1:52PM ET, the temperature in Kissimmee was 95 degrees, with a “feels like” of 105 degrees.
According to WFTV, “Excessive and dangerous heat is expected for this week in Central Florida,” with Tuesday (August 8th) expected to be just as hot (if not hotter) than Monday.
Here’s a look at some of the “feels like” temperatures in Orlando for the next few days according to meteorologist Eric Burris.
The hotter than normal stuff isn’t even just today, friends-

They note that the mix of hot temperatures and high humidity could lead to heat-related illnesses. So what should you do to prevent being impacted too strongly by this heat? There are a few things.
First, be sure to drink PLENTY of fluids! Remember that you can get a FREE cup of water at many Quick Service Disney World restaurants. And some Quick Service restaurants are making things even easier these days.
During our time at Magic Kingdom on August 7th, we noticed that quite a few Quick Service spots had containers with water and cups placed in convenient locations so guests didn’t even have to make their way into the restaurants to pick these up.
You can also bring or buy a reusable water bottle and refill your water at the water bottle refill stations or water fountains throughout the parks.
When you can, try to take a break in air-conditioned attractions or locations. Taking a moment to rest from walking around to see something like Mickey’s PhilharMagic or Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress in Magic Kingdom can be great during this time since you’ll get to be inside with air conditioning and you can sit down and rest your feet.
When you’re out in the sun, be sure to put on sunscreen (even if there are a few clouds blocking direct sunlight from hitting you) and remember to reapply throughout the day.

It’s important to also dress appropriately for the heat. Try to wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing whenever possible. If it’ll make you feel more comfortable, you can also bring a back-up shirt or outfit in your park bag to change into halfway through the day. That can give you a quick refresh!
We’ve got an entire online DFB store with shirts and more for your Disney trip, and we’ve got a whole collection of tank tops you can pick up to show your Disney style but still stay cool!
When packing your park bag, try to keep it light so you don’t have to lug around a really heavy bag throughout the day. You might even want to opt for something like a belt bag so you can carry the essentials but keep things light.

And don’t forget those cooling towels and neck fans! These can really be a game-changer, helping you stay cool in the hottest of times.
If possible, try to get some of your more strenuous activities done in the earning morning or evening, when things can cool down a bit. This could be the perfect time to take advantage of Early Theme Park Entry (if you qualify), enjoy the parks for a bit during the mornings, head back to the hotel for pool time or a nap during the hottest part of the day, and then return to the parks once things are starting to cool down a bit.
WESH 2 News also notes that “Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.” Remember that you can reach out to Cast Members around you should you need any assistance.
