Walt Disney World recently filed a permit for the installation of a Figment meet and greet set in the Imagination! Pavilion at EPCOT.
Figment Meet and Greet
The permit contracts Bungalow Scenic Studios for “installation of scenic items” at the Imagination! Pavilion. While this is a vague request, we already know the this meet and greet is set to open before the summer ends, and it makes sense for Disney to set up even a simple set as a backdrop for the iconic character.
Bungalow Scenic Studios has recently worked with Disney on the “Encanto” x CAMP experience in New York and Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wish. They also worked on the set for the Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope meet and greet in the Imagination! Pavilion.
No other details about the meet and greet have been revealed, though summer officially comes to an end on September 23.
Figment was once available as a meet and greet character many years ago. His popularity has only grown since, as evidenced by the frenzy over his popcorn bucket in 2022 and its subsequent return this year. He’s also frequently featured on merchandise, particularly for EPCOT festivals, and sometimes on runDisney medals.
The famous purple dragon was first introduced in 1983 in Journey Into Imagination. Figment and the mystical Dreamfinder helped riders learn to explore and appreciate the limitless power and potential of their own creative minds.
The famous purple dragon and his attraction have had a rough few decades. There have been three immensely different iterations of the ride to varying degrees of success, failure, love, and pure, loathsome hatred. Generally, the public regards the original version as overwhelmingly superior, the second as one of the worst attractions of all time, with the third and current design somewhere in between. In September 2022, Deadline broke the news that Disney is developing a movie based on Figment. The feature film will be produced by Seth Rogen’s Point Grey Pictures, with Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit (“Pokémon Detective Pikachu”) serving as writers. There have been no major updates since.
