Zach Riddley, the Imagineer who led the years-long overhaul of EPCOT, has been promoted to Global Creative Strategy Executive for Walt Disney Imagineering.
Riddley announced his promotion on LinkedIn. His previous job title was Portfolio Executive. In 2017, he was promoted to that position to oversee the EPCOT reimagining. In 2021, he also became Portfolio Executive for New Experience Development, where his focus was “the intersection of strategy, design and development – ensuring Disney quality storytelling and physical experiences play a vital role in consumers hearts and memories across the globe.”
During the recent EPCOT overhaul, Riddley became a face of Walt Disney Imagineering, sharing several updates about the project on Instagram. The overhaul itself has been met with mixed reactions and was plagued by delays and cancellations, partially due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The park’s overhaul is set to be officially complete with the openings of Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana” and CommuniCore Hall later this year.
Projects that have been indefinitely delayed or canceled include the Play! Pavilion and Mary Poppins ride.
