Disney parks fans have long anticipated the opening of the new World of Frozen themed area at Hong Kong Disneyland, and they won’t have to wait much longer. Disney has announced the area will officially open on November 20th, 2023.
World of Frozen and Hong Kong Disneyland Expansion
World of Frozen will have its own version of Frozen Ever After, plus two new attractions: Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs and Playhouse in the Woods. The former is a roller coaster through the mountains. Arendelle: World of Frozen will also have several shops and restaurants.
This is all part of an expansion that has been in the works for several years. On November 22, 2016, a collaboration between the Walt Disney Company and the Hong Kong Government was unveiled, outlining ambitious plans for a multi-year expansion of Hong Kong Disneyland, with an estimated budget of HK$10.9 billion. This expansion, which includes exciting additions like the World of Frozen, Stark Expo, the Castle of Magical Dreams, as well as new attractions and live entertainment, marks the fourth phase of the park’s growth, scheduled to unfold between 2018 and 2023. This new area will find its place between Fantasyland’s “It’s a Small World” and Toy Story Land, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the film and the Disney 100 Years of Wonder celebration.
