Nowadays, when you are on vacation at Walt Disney World, you likely already have your mobile device out constantly for everything from accessing your theme park tickets to making dining reservations and so much more. But did you know that the My Disney Experience app can tell you how to get from wherever you are to anywhere on Walt Disney World property via Disney transportation, but also by walking if you are in a park and don’t know how to get to your next desired location?
When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge first opened, I was standing there and couldn’t picture where I was in relation to Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano in Hollywood Studios. It was one of those days, like most, where it was hotter than fire, and I wasn’t in the mood for any extra steps that weren’t necessary. I wasn’t sure if the non-Toy Story Land exit was open at that point, but I didn’t want to walk all the way around the other side if I didn’t have to.
So, I pulled up the My Disney Experience app on my phone, and on the map, if you tap Transportation, it will show you the forms of transportation that are available from that specific theme park. As you look at the map, you can tap on the little transportation icons, and when you do that, you’ll see that it says “Get Directions” there.
Once you tap there, you’ll see two fields where you can start typing any theme park, attraction, restaurant, resort hotel, and more, and the full names will pop up for you to select. Once you select both your “from” and “to” destinations, you’ll see how long each available method of transportation is expected to take, which was just the coolest thing.
If you happen to be like me and don’t head to the theme parks often enough to know precisely how to get around at a moment’s notice, rest assured, knowing that you have all the directions you could ever need right there in the palm of your hand. If you prefer to have the directions listed out for you instead of looking at the picture of the map, that is also an option right there in the app when you tap See Walking Directions.
You can also get directions from one attraction to another, for example just in case you forget that Star Tours – The Adventures Continue or Star Wars Launch Bay are not located in Galaxy’s Edge, not that I’ve ever done that. Ahem.
Of course, I need to mention that it is as vital as ever to keep your mobile device charged, so make sure that you are well prepared when it comes to carrying a portable charging device. One of the things my family wasted so much time on during our first trips to Walt Disney World was trying to figure out how to get to where we were going. I hope this helps and that you will be on your way in no time!
