Disney Is Considering a ‘Black Panther’ Theme Park Land!

News of Disney’s new plan to spend $60 billion on its Parks, Experiences, and Products division has spread quickly on the internet today.

Disney announced in a security filing that they plan to increase their investments in Parks, Experiences, and Products (DPEP) by twice the amount from the past decade. If you think about what the company has created in the past 10 years with $30 billion, just imagine what it can accomplish with twice that much.

In the announcement from Disney, we got a lot of information about what we could possibly expect in the years to come. They teased that there are plenty of untapped movies and stories from many popular franchises that could potentially make their way to the parks and Disney Cruise Line. But now, we have a few questions.

In the statement from Disney, executives announced some shocking information. For one, did you know Disney Parks has about 1,000 acres of unused property across its existing sites? This is enough space for SEVEN new parks the size of Disneyland.

They also told us, that for every guest that visits a Disney park, there are 10 other people who like Disney that do not visit the parks. These two pieces of information would indicate that there is a lot of unlocked potential just inside Disney’s park system.

We learned all this information, and then Josh D’Amaro gave us a huge hint that we can’t get over. D’Amaro stated, “We have a wealth of untapped stories to bring to life across our business. Frozen, one of the most successful and popular animated franchises of all time, could have a presence at the Disneyland Resort. Wakanda has yet to be brought to life. The world of Coco is just waiting to be explored. There’s a lot of storytelling opportunity.”

Chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Josh D’Amaro

He just said that Frozen could have a “presence in Disneyland.” Then he said, “Wakanda has yet to be brought to life.” And then he added, “The world of Coco is just waiting to be explored.” So now we’re wondering, could we be getting a Wakanda Land? Is there going to be a Frozen area added to Disneyland?

We’ve heard about Coco potentially coming to Disney Parks before. It’s often on the Blue Skies list. This is the list that Disney created with all the potential ideas that have been brought to the table. They are not guaranteed to make it to the parks, but many of the best ideas that are now in the parks once started off as Blue Skies ideas. So now it seems that Wakanda, in some capacity, might be on that list! Same with Frozen in Disneyland!

Don’t forget that Frozen-themed lands are already coming to Hong Kong Disneyland and Disneyland Paris, so it would make sense that, if those lands are popular, Disney will bring the concept to other parks.

We don’t know anything for sure yet, only what we heard from Josh D’Amaro. But we would certainly not be disappointed in a Wakanda Land making its way to Disney World. Maybe it could become part of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or possibly part of the Africa section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
