As individual cards sell for north of $1,000 and additional demand-prompted reprintings are announced, guests are still able to get their hands on Disney Lorcana at Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort. The trading card game, which debuted at Disney Springs on August 28 and became available at general retailers on September 1, has been in stock at World of Disney for several consecutive days despite being in short supply at several physical and online retailers. As of September 16, Disney Lorcana gift sets were back in stock behind the front counter at World of Disney, and it seems as though the product is frequently restocked.
Disney Lorcana Back in Stock at Disney Springs
A fresh batch of Disney Lorcana gift sets were stocked at World of Disney on the morning of September 16. The item is in high demand and sells rapidly; as you can see in the photo above, there are now just a few gift sets remaining on the lower shelf that was previously completely stocked. That said, World of Disney has had inventory in stock for several days now, consistently putting more back on the shelves.
The consistent availability is welcomed but perhaps unforeseen after starter decks completely sold out and gift sets were in short supply within hours of the product’s debut at World of Disney in late August. While one would naturally expect demand to subside as we grow further from the card game’s initial release, this hasn’t been the case elsewhere; Disney Lorcana remains sold out on shopDisney and other online stores and is generally difficult to find at physical retailers. There have also been reports of price gouging at small specialty stores.
It’s this context that makes the product’s consistent recent availability at the centerpiece store of Disney Springs unanticipated. While starter decks are difficult to come by at World of Disney, gift sets are still in stock. They initially sold for $29.99; prince indicators are not currently placed near the product.
Disney Lorcana
Disney Lorcana is a new Disney-focused trading card game created by Ravensburger. The company describes the game as an experience in which players can “wield magic inks and the power of Lorcana to assemble [their] team of Disney characters” on the official Disney Lorcana website, warning that “some characters will be familiar friends” while “others will be fantastically reimagined.”
All cards released thus far have belonged to “The First Chapter” of the game. Cards from this set will be reprinted early next year in an effort to meet demand. The second chapter, titled ‘Rise of the Floodborn,” was formally revealed earlier this month and will be released to local retailers on November 17 and widely on December 1. Special Disney100 Edition Disney Lorcana cards signed by Disney animators are also on their way.
