03It’s been years since Genie+ was introduced in Disney World, and it’s still quite controversial.
It’s a great way to help you accomplish everything you hope to during your Disney day without too much waiting in line, but it also can cost an arm and a leg, so many families have to choose which they’d prefer — faster lines or saving money. If you’re heading into the parks later this year for one of Disney World’s after-hours events, there’s a Genie+ trick you need to know about.
Currently, Disney World is celebrating Halloween with Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Genie+ is NOT available to be used during the party. Does this stop it from being available before the party begins? NOPE. Even if you’re in the park for a few hours before it officially closes to the public, don’t buy Genie+ because you’ll only be able to use it for 2 hours!
Lines are relatively short during the party, but some rides like Haunted Mansion can still see up to 40-minute waits or so, and there’s no way to pay and skip those lines.
We’re also assuming this is also going to be the case for the holiday parties this year, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Jollywood Nights. Meaning that even though it’ll be available, DO NOT buy Genie+ for these events — you won’t be able to actually use it during party hours.
The only time we would suggest buying Genie+ for the day is if you have both a regular park ticket AND a party ticket, and you plan to spend the whole day in the park. In that case, you’ll be able to use Genie+ for the whole day until the party begins. Otherwise, don’t spend money that will get you nothing!
