Magic Kingdom has the most attractions out of the four theme parks here at Walt Disney World. There are 34 attractions in the park, but these are the ones on our must-do list.
Pirates of the Caribbean
Of course, Pirates of the Caribbean is on this list. It’s a fun ride with a catchy song that will get stuck in your head all day. This attraction is perfect for all ages and heights. If you have any younger travelers who might be scared of small drops, then I suggest walking over to Jungle Cruise or the Enchanted Tiki Room.
Pirates of the Caribbean falls under the slow ride category, which is why it’s perfect for all ages and heights. This is a fairly popular attraction, so high wait times might occur if you visit during busy times of the year.
The biggest perk of this ride is that it is all indoors, and there’s a chance of getting splashed with cold water since there’s a small drop, which means this is the perfect attraction to ride in the summer.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Big Thunder Mountain is a fun coaster that will send you racing through a haunted gold-mining town. In my opinion, this is the best “mountain” attraction in Magic Kingdom, and I will forever stand by that.
To ride this attraction, guests must be 40 inches or taller. Thunder Mountain is classified as a thrill ride and has small drops. It’s perfect for kids, tweens, teens, and adults. This is a ride that can get long wait times during the middle of the day. The wait times are the lowest early in the morning and later in the evening.
The most magical time to ride this attraction is at night because of the lighting. It truly makes it feel like a different ride, and the area looks even more beautiful.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
To me, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is the more tame version of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The reason it’s on our must-do list is because the animatronics and scenes are phenomenal, oh and the ride vehicle sways back and forth. I love getting my travel party to rock back and forth to make the ride vehicle move. It’s so much fun.
To ride this attraction, guests must be 38 inches or taller to get on. According to Disney, this is a thrill ride with small drops. Now, this attraction is notorious for having high wait times. You might want to use Lightning Lane for this one.
Space Mountain
Space Mountain isn’t my favorite attraction, but I think it deserves a spot on the must-do list because it is an iconic attraction and a true thrill ride. Here, guests will blast off on a rocket through the darkest reaches of outer space.
To ride this attraction, guests must be 44 inches or taller. This ride is classified as a thrill ride with big drops in the dark. I was terrified to get on this coaster, but I felt like the bravest 11-year-old in the world when I got off the ride. It was my favorite “big kid” ride for many years after that.
Even though the version at Walt Disney World isn’t the best, it’s still a fun ride and is a right of passage for many. That’s why it has a spot on this list.
PeopleMover
The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover is a wonderful attraction that’s perfect for all heights and ages. It’s also the best spot to people-watch. The ride constantly moves, so the line doesn’t get too long, except during the summer.
The PeopleMover is a ten-minute tour of Tomorrowland aboard an emission-free mass transit system of the future. This is classified as a slow ride that guests of all ages and heights can enjoy.
Personally, this is my favorite part of Tomorrowland because the views from the attraction are stunning. I recommend taking a ride during sunset or just after sunset; it’s beautiful.
TRON Lightcycle / Run
TRON is the newest addition to Magic Kingdom’s collection of attractions. It’s a fun and thrilling ride that looks gorgeous in Tomorrowland.
To ride this attraction, guests must be 48 inches or taller. TRON Lightcycle / Run is classified as a thrill ride with big drops in the dark. I love roller coasters, and even I was a little nervous about the outdoor section of the ride. It is truly one of those situations that it looks scarier than what it is.
It’s important to remember that to ride this attraction, you’ll need to join the virtual queue at either 7 a.m. or 1 p.m. Guests can also experience the attraction if they purchase a lightning lane. Lightning Lane entry purchases are limited in availability, so I suggest joining the virtual queue if possible.
