Everyone Will Forget This HACK for the Moana Attraction in EPCOT

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is set to open soon, y’all.

This attraction in EPCOT is scheduled to debut before the year is over, but we were lucky enough to get a preview of it recently and were really impressed with how much fun it was. However, there’s one tip that could truly make or break your experience and we need to talk about it.

Journey of Water is a new attraction that is part of EPCOT’s multi-year transformation. It sits in the World Nature section of the park which is dedicated to “understanding and preserving the beauty and balance of the natural world.”

With that intention, guests will learn all about the cycle of water as they walk through the lush exploration trail and interact with it in a fun and educational way. For example, in the “Rain” section of the trail, Disney teaches us how water falls from the clouds to the earth and tumbles down the mountains, renewing everything it touches. To celebrate that, guests can play with strings of water that play musical notes as they touch them.

Throughout the trail, there are a ton of other ways that you can interact with the water — but if you choose to do so, expect to get wet!

Water feature

While there are dry paths you can take to avoid this, much of the fun, playful elements of this attraction involve touching the water. Some of the features, like the musical strings, are tame and won’t require you to be as prepared to get wet, but if you want to get the full experience, we think you should bring one very important thing — water-friendly shoes.

Group water element

Each of the sections — Rain, Stream, Wetland, Spring, Land, Lake, River, Ocean, and Sky — has a way for you to interact with the water. One of the most impressive sections for this is in Ocean, where the big water effects take place. Here, you’ll be able to work with your group to make big splashes as you call the water forward — the more in sync with those around you, the bigger the splash!

In another area in Ocean, Kakamora rock features spit water out at you while more water shoots up from the ground below. Want to get the full effect? Wearing a pair of waterproof shoes — or even packing a simple pair of sandals for this occasion — can really make this more enjoyable!

Now, you really don’t have to get too wet to experience any of these water features — most of them are similar to walking through a mister that you’ll find in other areas of the parks. But, it can get hot in the Florida sun, and if you have the appropriate clothes, you might really appreciate taking advantage of these water zones at their fullest effect.

Sky

In Land, for example, you can walk through a waterfall, and it’s up to you how wet you get! Walk slowly and the water will split around you, but walk quickly and you can get soaked!

If you don’t want to miss out on some of these experiences but are super averse to getting wet — you might also want to bring a poncho. Most of the water interactions are mild, but it doesn’t hurt to pack a lightweight poncho in your bag just in case.
