New classic Halloween decorations have been added throughout the Halloween Horror Nights 32 Tribute Store at Universal Studios Florida. The store’s exterior resembles a comic book shop, called McPherson’s Collectibles, while the interior takes guests through the four original stories of the Tribute to Terror comic book. The stories were already scary, but not specifically related to Halloween, so for October, Universal has added jack-o’-lanterns and other decorations throughout — plus, a few other Easter eggs.
McPherson’s Collectibles Façade
There are now paper decorations on the windows of McPherson’s Collectibles.
These decorations depict classic Halloween figures like a witch and black cats.
There’s even an image of Frankenstein’s Monster carrying a jack-o’-lantern.
McPherson’s Collectibles Entrance
A few things have been added to the entryway. There’s a skull-shaped Halloween bucket.
The first printing of Tribute to Terror, with a mostly red cover, has been on the counter since opening.
The second printing, with a green cover, is now sitting next to the skull bucket. This edition is currently available for purchase.
“Grave Consequences”
In the “Grave Consequences” story, there are several jack-o’-lanterns at the feet of Bernie and Jack.
Four are carved with faces, while one is carved with a bat.
Larger jack-o’-lanterns and uncarved pumpkins are in the graveyard.
“False Idols: Part 1 — A Boris Shuster Mystery”
Moving onto the Boris Shuster story. Detective Shuster and Charlie McPherson are both characters featured in Halloween Horror Nights past.
A new broken figure is sitting on top of the trash can in this corner.
It looks like a person with a jack-o’-lantern head.
New newspapers and piles of flat candy are on the ground. One newspaper headline reads “PANIC ENSUES Halloween Festivities Come to a Halt as Strange Sightings Continue.”
A few new props are on the loading zone platform next to the fish person.
A manila folder reads “Do Not Bend” — maybe an important file that hasn’t made it’s way to Boris?
There’s also a matchbook from the Kitty Kat Club (open nightly). The Kitty Kat Club was featured in the Case Files Unearthed: Legendary Truth house at Halloween Horror Nights 30, which focused on Shuster’s investigations of the supernatural.
There is more candy and two newspapers with these headlines:
- “Halloween is Canceled Amidst Ever Growing Number of Disappearances City Wide”
- “Trick or Treating? A Halloween Tradition Cut Short Because Monsters May Be Real!”
There is also a black and white mask on the platform.
Inside the room, black and white jack-o’-lanterns decorate the space.
One of those jack-o’-lantern people figures is on this balcony.
This one is whole, unlike the one on the trash can.
There are more candy decals, newspapers, and Kitty Kat Club matchbooks.
We noticed several new decals on and around Shuster’s desk.
In the “False Idols” story, Shuster is investigating fish people (highlighted with the magnifying glass).
There are letters from City Power & Water marked “Past Due.” An envelope with the return address blacked out is from an “Anonymous Tip Line.” Another is from “A Friend,” with a big red kiss on it.
A jack-o’-lantern now sits atop this filing cabinet.
There’s another Kitty Kat Club matchbook — plus a letter.
The letter to Boris is from Charlie and is dated October 1st.
Boris,
I got a tip you may want to keep close to the chest for now. Seems there is a Doctor with a bad case of “disappearing” her clients. Not to keen on her keeping a gig that could spell disaster for this city. I’ll keep an eye out for more details and will let ya know if anything crazy happens. I promise I won’t jump in without you this time.
-Charlie
The doctor Charlie is referring to is Dr. Mary Agana, a.k.a. Bloody Mary. Unfortunately, Charlie would jump in without Boris this time, becoming one of Mary’s parents as he saw terrifying images in his photographs. He ultimately died at Mary’s hands. His soul would become trapped in his photographs, as seen in the Dead Exposure house at Halloween Horror Nights: Reflections of Fear (2008). After Charlie’s death, Boris would go on to investigate Mary.
“Pay Up”
Jim’s Diner in the “Pay Up” story has been decorated for Halloween.
The motorcycle parked out front seems to have smashed a pumpkin.
There’s also a cute jack-o’-lantern person by the window.
Next to the confectionery case is a ghost figure with a jack-o’-lantern and cat. There is a paper skeleton and a vampire on the counter.
Paper jack-o’-lanterns, an owl, and a skeleton are behind the counter.
A large jack-o’-lantern is on the floor next to the jukebox.
An orange and black witch figure is on the table next to the skeletal figure.
More paper decorations are on the counter in front of the demon.
“Eyes of the Ripper”
The final story is “Eyes of the Ripper,” about Jack the Ripper.
Instead of traditional jack-o’-lanterns, there are carved turnips with lights inside throughout this room.
There are also some retro black cat figures (the black cat at the room’s entrance was already there).
This cat wears a clown hat and ruffle.
Another cat with an orange ruffle is on a fence.
Exit
In the exit area is a more realistic jack-o’-lantern, sitting atop a stack of newspapers.
Another smashed pumpkin sits with autumn leaves by the fire hydrant.
