Disney is setting up a virtual queue for the first day of Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana” Annual Passholder and Disney Vacation Club previews at EPCOT. Cast Members have been previewing the attraction for weeks now, and we were able to visit as guests during the day and at night. Before the attraction officially opens on October 16 (the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company), Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members have the opportunity to preview it. Unlike previous attraction previews, there was no registration or virtual queue required. EPCOT Park Passes have reached capacity for multiple preview dates.
Journey of Water Previews
When we rode around EPCOT on the Monorail on Sunday morning, we could see the long line for Journey of Water. This was at about 9:00 a.m.
Sunday, September 24, was the first day of previews for both Annual Passholders and DVC members.
When we entered the park, the end of the preview line was near the fountain in the park’s entrance area.
The line passed the restrooms to the west of Spaceship Earth and went into World Nature.
We spoke to Guest Relations, who said they are working on setting up a virtual queue. However, because a line had already formed, guests will still need to get in line to join the virtual queue.
There are separate lines for Passholders and DVC members.
DVC members check in with a Cast Member at this red umbrella.
They are getting return times on pieces of paper.
At the Passholder check-in, there is a QR code to scan to join the virtual queue.
The exact details of the virtual queue system aren’t clear yet as it’s still being worked out. But from our observations, it looked like DVC members were getting in quicker than Passholders.
Passholder and DVC member previews are on September 24-29 and October 1-4.
More About Journey of Water
Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is a “self-guided outdoor trail where you can play with water as it travels from the sky to the oceans and back again.”
It has a wet path and a dry path for guests who don’t want to get wet.
“Along with Moana as a steward of water conservation, Te Fiti is a symbol of how we should protect and nurture water wherever we find it,” Reid Ekman, Lead Concept Designer at Walt Disney Imagineering, said of the giant Te Fiti figure at the attraction.
This is an important theme in Journey of Water, where guests will learn more about how water travels from our skies to the ocean, and back again. This story will unfold along a lush trail inspired by the environments and art style of the beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios film.
Cast Members working at Journey of Water and The Seas With Nemo & Friends have convertible environmentally-friendly costumes.
