Construction materials, vehicles, and walls are gone from the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort as construction wraps up on the railings above.
Grand Floridian Resort Lobby
Furniture and decorations are back in the lobby for guests to enjoy.
White scrims remain around some of the upstairs balconies, although work may be complete. Some scrims were removed in August.
Construction began in June, taking over a large portion of the lobby.
The lobby itself is set to be remodeled, though not until next year.
Reportedly, the lobby remodel was scheduled to begin earlier this spring, but they were unable to meet that schedule. Rather than start construction and interfere with the giant gingerbread house the resort builds annually, the remodel was delayed.
Back in December 2022, Disney confirmed the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa would be refurbished during the resort’s 35th anniversary, which was on July 1, 2023.
For now, the lobby retains its vintage theming, including chandeliers and a giant birdcage.
There are more modern-looking chairs and tables on the second floor overlooking the lobby.
The lobby elevator is also back open, having been closed when construction vehicles were parked in the center of the building.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Refurbishment
Former CEO Bob Chapek began a major overhaul of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa when he took over the Parks & Resorts division in 2015. The updates began with the “Beauty and the Beast”-themed Enchanted Rose Lounge, which replaced Mizner’s Lounge. Cítricos followed with a new “Mary Poppins”-inspired design. When the Grand Floridian Spa reopened in January 2022, it too had been remodeled.
All rooms of the Grand Floridian Resort are still being updated and some “Mary Poppins” theming has been added throughout guest buildings.
Narcoossee’s was closed from June 2022 to April 2023, and reopened with a revamped interior and “land and sea” menu.
