General Hera Syndulla and her droid, C1-10P a.k.a. Chopper, have arrived at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park to coincide with the ongoing “Ahsoka” series on Disney+.
Hera and Chopper on Batuu
We encountered General Syndulla and Chopper at Black Spire Outpost outside Droid Depot (which Chopper tried to enter). We caught their first appearance of the day at about 2:30 p.m.
Hera wears her brown bomber jacket, orange pants, and brown headgear with goggles. The orange in her outfit matches Chopper, who is an orange and white astromech droid.
The general and her droid friend first appeared in “Star Wars Rebels” before making the leap to live-action with “Ahsoka.”
Chopper is known by affectionate fans for being directly responsible for thousands of Imperial deaths.
Hera is the pilot and captain of the Ghost, which served as a major set piece in “Star Wars Rebels.”
Hera was originally voiced by Vanessa Marshall. She’s portrayed in live-action by Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Dave Filoni, who created both “Rebels” and “Ahsoka,” voices Chopper.
On the sleeve of Hera’s jacket is the orange and white Starbird symbol. Though similar to the Rebel Alliance logo, the Starbird is actually the graffiti tag used by Sabine Wren, a member of Hera’s crew in “Rebels” and Ahsoka’s padawan in the new series. The Starbird symbol was modified to become the official logo of the Rebel Alliance and then the New Republic.
Hera and Chopper will only be appearing for a “limited time” at the Disneyland version of Galaxy’s Edge, joining Ahsoka Tano, who made her debut in late August. The version of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has not yet broken from the franchise’s canon timeline due to the Galactic Starcruiser (other than the Mandalorian and Grogu, both of whom could ostensibly appear in that timeline), and thus, it does not make narrative sense for characters like Hera, Chopper, and Ahsoka to appear at the point of time in which that version of the land exists. The Galactic Starcruiser is closing permanently later this month.
“Ahsoka” follows Ahsoka Tano (portrayed by Rosario Dawson) as she enlists the aid of Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) to find Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), a Jedi who is lost in an uncharted location. Potentially trapped alongside Ezra is Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), a former Imperial official whom Ahsoka is hoping to stop. But some of Thrawn’s old allies are trying to find him and return the fallen Empire to glory. “Ahsoka” premiered on Disney+ on August 22, and its finale will premiere on October 3.
