Oaken has put his entrepreneurial spirit on display and expanded his business, as there is now a “Wandering Oaken’s Pop-Up Portraits” photo location in the Norway Pavilion at EPCOT.
The new Disney PhotoPass photo opportunity occupies the space of the former Wandering Reindeer shop.
Wandering Oaken’s Pop-Up Portraits
A long piece of aged fabric lined with a traditional Scandinavian pattern is hung in front of the set. “Wandering Oaken’s Pop-Up Portraits” is written across the fabric in a teal font; a small green towel off to the side reads “And Sauna,” a reference to the sauna Oaken tacked onto his Trading Post in “Frozen.”
A message is written out in Norwegian across the top of the decorated red shelves that serve as the set’s backdrop. It reads “Overgangsriten for alle unge Reinsdyr var ‘Vårflyttingen,’ en Lang Vandring til Utkanten av Kongeriket for å skue Nordlyset og vise respekt for de Nordlige Skytsånde,” roughly translating to English as “the rite of passage for all young reindeer was the ‘Spring Migration,’ a long walk to the edge of the Kingdom to view the Northern Lights and pay respect to the Northern Guardian Spirits.”
Though providing a neat backdrop, the shelf is not new for Wandering Oaken’s Pop-Up Portraits — it was previously a product shelf at The Wandering Reindeer.
The decorations placed on the shelf are new additions, however.
In addition to his various retail pursuits, Oaken also has fliers up in the portrait studio for Oaken’s Brokens Repair Shop, as well as Oaken’s Soakens Sleigh Wash (which is like a sauna for your sled).
The flier for Oaken’s Soakens Sleigh Wash asks that patrons “please remove reindeer before washing” their sleds.
Wandering Oaken’s Pop-Up Portraits is located near the Anna & Elsa meet and greet at Royal Sommerhaus.
