Halloween Horror Nights 32 has begun, and one of the ten haunted houses is Chucky: Ultimate Kill Count, starring the infamous killer Good Guys doll.
Chucky: Ultimate Kill Count
Chucky, the serial killer doll, is back for a new gorefest! He’s hijacked his own haunted house with all kinds of bloody hijinks. You and your friends must try to survive his ultimate kill count.
The original voice of Chucky and the actor who portrayed Charles Lee Ray, Brad Dourif, recorded lines for this house. It’s located behind Fast & Furious: Supercharged, utilizing part of the ride’s queue.
The meta story of this house is that Universal decided to build a house based on the “Chucky” series, then invited Chucky himself to see it. He hated it, summarily killing all of the designers, and made a new house — this time possessing all the Good Guy dolls they had bought.
This was a great house. Guests start in the “original” Universal house, meeting a fantastic Chucky animatronic. This house isn’t good — it’s clear why Chucky hated it. There are fake boo holes and Scareactors dressed as Good Guy dolls are being murdered.
One scene includes Kyle from “Child’s Play 2,” except the character is actually a Scareactor playing Kyle, another layer to the meta plot. There’s also an Andy Scareactor begging for his life.
After the original house, you “leave” through a fake exit, encountering a Scareactor who played Chucky in the original house telling guests not to go back in because Chucky is killing people.
Guests then re-enter the house through a truck full of Good Guys dolls and encounter dozens of versions of Chucky.
The house features 250 life-size Chucky dolls, an audio-animatronic doll, and an 8-foot Chucky. One doll stands on another’s shoulders to try to hit guests with a chainsaw. Tiffany Valentine only appears on a screen. Glen or Glenda appears near the end.
Chucky originally debuted in the 1988 horror movie “Child’s Play.” Serial killer Charles Lee Ray was fatally shot in a toy store, but before he died, he used “voodoo magic” to transfer his soul into a Good Guys doll. The doll was gifted to a young Andy Barclay, who would come face to face with Chucky over decades of the franchise, from sequels to TV series.
This doll has a long-established legacy with Halloween Horror Nights, appearing the very first year in 1991’s Dungeon of Terror house. Since then, he has made many cameos and appearances. Chucky: Friends til the End in 2009 was his first solo house, followed by a scare zone, Revenge of Chucky, at HHN 28.
