The Stellar Bar is open exclusively during Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood. Located on the lower lot, the Stellar bar is set up overlooking Jurassic World The Ride. The menu features “Stranger Things” themed cocktails and bites. From the Demogorgon Pizza to the Mind Flayer, “Stranger Things” fans will appreciate the themed names and presentation. Let’s take a look around the Stellar Bar and give the menu a try.
Over the summer, this location was a Jurassic Park 30th anniversary bar. Now, it’s become a “Stranger Things” inspired bar with tons of retro vibes. The entrance arch welcomes you with bright, bold colors and “Stellar Bar” signage.
As you get to the entrance of the bar, you’ll find a photo op with a giant Halloween Horror Nights mix tape. You’ll need to get a wristband for alcohol and show it to a Team Member before entering the Stellar Bar.
There are multiple registers to order and plenty of seating and tables in the area. It’s always packed, but it’s worth the wait. There are 3 premium cocktails and some sweet and savory snacks. There’s a Demogorgon Pizza, Pizza Fries, Truffle Fries, Hellfire Club Pretzel, and a Hellfire Pop.
There’s a Palace Arcade photo op with a “Stranger Things” pinball machine. This is a nice little detail that adds to the neon-lit party atmosphere. The soundtrack playing in this area fits the 80’s, too.
If you’re on an RIP Tour or have Express Passes, there is a separate bar and seating area with no wait. The only down side to this RIP bar is that it doesn’t offer food. But if you want a drink quickly, this is a great perk to the Universal Express Pass.
Demogorgon Pizza – $11.99
It’s a Demogorgon! The pastry crust of the pizza is folded over to create a star-like shape with marinara sauce in the center. This looks a little small on the huge plate, but it’s amazing. It’s not as filling as the Surfer Boy Pizza, but it’s absolutely delicious.
The pastry crust is so flaky and buttery, we couldn’t stop eating. It’s so good! The edges are mostly crust, but it’s so good, you won’t even mind. We didn’t really find too much pizza filling, but this was one of our favorite things we tried.
The sauce was heavy and acidic, which was perfect for this pastry. We couldn’t get enough of it.
We would say $11.99 is a little high for this, but the fact that it’s Eleven dollars seems to be appropriately themed. If you’re looking for a delicious pizza, get the Demogorgon. If you’re looking for something hearty and filling on a long night at Halloween Horror Nights, go with the Surfer Boy Pizza instead.
Pizza Fries – $11.99
A classic Halloween Horror Nights tradition. Pizza fries! These are a heaping pile of crinkle fries with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, and cut up pepperoni.
There’s only a little bit of marinara on the fries, so they don’t get too soggy. These are perfect to pair with any of the drinks from the bar. You can’t go wrong with these.
Hellfire Club Push-Pop – $6.99
The Hellfire Pop is a simple, sweet treat that combines layers of chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream ice cream. The front of the pop features a “Hellfire Club” sticker.
Inside the cake pop, you’ll find a tiny white chocolate guitar nestled in the layers. The frosting on top of the cake pop looks like flames and is covered in edible glitter.
The cake is pretty standard. If you’re looking for a basic cake and frosting kind of dessert, this will satisfy. There really wasn’t any “wow” factor here, though. It’s good, but it becomes forgettable compared to some of the other offerings during Halloween Horror Nights.
Surfer Boy – $17
Tequila, Melon Liqueur, Kiwi, Lemonade, Sprite, topped with Cotton Candy & Sugar Surfboard
Surfer Boy! This specialty cocktail is topped with cotton candy and a sugar surfboard, but the cotton candy will quickly melt into your drink. Surfer Boy is made with tequila, kiwi, melon, lemonade, and sprite, which creates a sweet and tropical mixed drink. The tequila is masked by the fruity flavors and lemonade, combined with the melting cotton candy.
The colors are pretty and the drink is sweet and pleasant. It’s unfortunate the cotton candy melts and becomes a sugary mess, but it doesn’t ruin the drink. The sugar surfboard doesn’t melt as quickly, thankfully.
This was one of our favorite drinks. We would recommend ordering it without the cotton candy, though.
The Upside Down – $17
Vodka, Blue Curacao, Strawberry Lemonade, topped with Candied Hibiscus & Strawberry Boba
The drink is blue and red, to create the color scheme of the Upside Down from the show. A lot of the merchandise also features the red and blue coloring for the Upside Down. Popping Boba sit atop of the drink with an edible candied hibiscus. If you like strawberry lemonade, this is the drink for you. The tart lemonade is the strongest part of the drink, complimented by the sweet strawberry.
This is a delicious and sweet option if visiting the Stellar Bar.
Mind Flayer – $17
Gin, Blue Curacao, Strawberry, Citrus Soda & Sprite, topped with Licorice
The pulled apart licorice and dark colored drink pair together perfectly to create this Mind Flayer inspired cocktail. This is such a simple, yet creative, presentation of the Mind Flayer from Stranger Things. It might inspire you to create your own version of the Mind Flayer at home.
This cocktail was another one of our favorites. The flavor is similar to a melted Bomb Pop popsicle. You really can’t taste the gin, but you’ll definitely feel it. The strawberry and lemon flavors were refreshing and sweet, so this was easy to drink. Not only does this drink look great, it tastes amazing.
Overall, everything we tried at the Stellar Bar was delicious and we would encourage you to check it out during Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood. The Demogorgon Pizza and Mind Flayer were our favorites, but you can’t go wrong with any of them.
