The 2023 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival has been in full swing for a while now, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t more to eat!

Char & Chop Marketplace Booth 2023

We’ve seen all the food booths with tasty items, merchandise to grab, and plenty of concerts. FOUR new food booths were announced for this year and they’re officially OPEN! So come with us to the NEW Char & Chop booth to find out if it’s worth a try — let’s find out!

Eats

We couldn’t wait to get started on these dishes, so we started with the Roasted Porchetta with lemon-parsley salsa verde and shaved fennel salad. You can get this for $6.25.

Roasted Porchetta

Porchetta is a thinly sliced pork roast typically seasoned with garlic and herbs, and it’s typically pretty rich and fatty — so we were excited for a lot of flavor here. And boy, did we luck out! It was packed with flavor but we will warn you that it is incredibly fatty, so if that bothers you then this probably isn’t your cut of meat. But that’s where all the flavor is!

The brightness of the herbs helped to cut through some of that rich fattiness, and the shaved fennel added a sweetness and crunchy texture that really balanced the whole dish. It was a little salty, as pork can be, but everything on this plate works so well together — it was peppery but not spicy, and just bursting with really exciting flavors.

Porchetta

For a plant-based option, you can grab the Grilled IMPOSSIBLE Spicy Sausage with herbed polenta, puttanesca sauce, and ricotta for $6.00. Okay, this sounds amazing — how does it taste?

Grilled IMPOSSIBLE Spicy Sausage

We were surprised by the flavor of this one! The sausage reminded us of a mild chorizo and wasn’t too spicy despite the name. It’s got a kick but certainly nothing that the average spice fan can’t handle. The sausage sits on a buttery mountain of delicious, cheesy polenta and ricotta cheese that we could pretty much drink. It helps cut down on the acidity of the tomato and the spiciness of the sausage. We’d try this one again for sure!

We also tried the Meat Assorti. This is a trio of shaved meats with baby arugula, pickled mustard seeds, truffle oil, and grilled ciabatta. This one is available for $6.75.

Meat Assorti

This booth definitely has the meats and we’re not complaining. There’s a prosciutto, a salami, and a capicola. Each meat was incredibly salty, but that’s par for the course with cured meats like this. We liked the mustard seeds that were served alongside this as they had a subtle sweetness that helped cut down on the salt. We would have loved there to have been some cheese served alongside this, but if you love cured meats this might be for you.

Of course, we had to wet our whistle with something — let’s check out those drinks!

Drinks

We grabbed the Beer Flight that comes with the Krombacher Pilsner (6 oz. $5.50 / 12 oz. $9.50), the North Coast Laguna Baja Vienna Lager (6 oz. $5.50 / 12 oz. $9.50), and the Motorworks Brewing Midnight Espresso Coffee Porter (6 oz. $5.50 / 12 oz. $9.50).

Beer Flight

The pilsner was crisp and yeasty — it was drinkable and light with fruity notes. There was a light hoppy flavor but nothing in your face like what you might expect from an IPA.

Pilsner

We thought the Vienna Lager was also refreshing and drinkable on a hot EPCOT day, but was maltier than an American lager with a hint of sweetness.

North Coast Laguna Baja Vienna Lager

The coffee porter was the thickest of the three and certainly the maltiest. It’s on the sweet side and the coffee flavor is present but we didn’t get as much of a coffee flavor as we had expected. The flavor is definitely there but it’s not overpowering. This probably wouldn’t be our choice for sipping on a hot Disney World day, but hey, we don’t judge.

Coffee Porter

Don’t worry, there’s a cocktail here too — the Bloody Mary with Seaside Grown Bloody Mary Mix and Kurvball Barbecue Whiskey is $11 and sounds incredibly interesting. Once we got it, it looked pretty interesting too because we realized there was a sausage in it.

We were immediately smacked in the face by the tomato flavor, which makes sense since tomato juice is the main ingredient here. The main flavors we tasted were tomato and celery, but there was a slight kick to the mix that we wish was more prominent. The sausage it’s served with is salty, thick, and has a great snap to it. You know, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Bloody Mary with Seaside Grown Bloody Mary Mix and Kurvball Barbecue Whiskey

It was a really solid and refreshing bloody mary! And, if wine is more your thing, you can pick up the GoGi ‘Birdie’ Pinot Noir for $16.00.

Overall

We weren’t sure what to expect from this new booth, but we can officially say that it is the place to be if you’re looking to try a bunch of different types of meat and aren’t sure just what you’re looking for. The porchetta was by far the best thing here, but we were thoroughly surprised by how much we enjoyed the Impossible Spicy Sausage too. And, if you’re a Bloody Mary fan, you might enjoy this refreshing meal in a glass!

Char & Chop — Full Spread

That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from!
