REVIEW: We Created a NEW POG Treat in Disney World, and Now We’re Doubting Our Loyalty to DOLE Whip

LISTEN — Before you cancel us for saying that our loyalty to DOLE Whip might be in danger, we HAVE to show you this “new” treat in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Because you might start to see our point once you understand what’s available here!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

We’ll always have a place in our hearts for the iconic DOLE Whip flavors throughout Disney World, but given the choice between that classic pineapple treat and the frozen, fruity concoction we just tried…well…it’s a tough call 😬. Hear us out!!

Over at the Grand Avenue Gelato Cart in Hollywood Studios, you can get POG-flavored gelato! This isn’t anything new — the tasty flavor has been around for a while, ever since it first popped up as a seasonal flavor and then people loved it SO much that it stuck around and was added to the permanent menu.

Gelato Cart

Also available on the menu at this gelato cart is mango. (Mango used to be on the permanent menu, but it appears it’s been taken off and is now just a seasonal flavor.) Do you see where we’re going with this?

We thought that the PERFECT tropical treat would be a combination of POG (which has passion fruit, orange, and guava flavors) and mango. We ordered a double scoop with one of each flavor, which comes to $9.25. So this isn’t exactly a new treat since we’ve seen the POG and mango flavors before, but the new part is that now we’re combining the two!

POG-Mango

This combination is a tropical fruit paradise! POG already has our hearts, and mango was a home run in our books as well. The combination throws it all over the top in the BEST way. We’d even go so far as to say this is the best possible thing to order at this treat cart!

YUM

When you have both flavors together, you get layers of tropical fruit flavor that really pack a punch. These are NOT mild flavors — it’s not a LaCroix situation where there’s just a whisper of fruit. It’s STRONG and we loved it.

We loved it.

In fact, we think that POG should ALWAYS be served with mango — can we start a petition to make POGM a thing?

Eat up!

If you’re a fan of fruit and especially tropical flavors, this is a must-get treat for you. It’s a bit expensive for a small dessert, but we thought it was 100% worth it. If you don’t like fruit, though, definitely don’t get this treat. Our reporter described it as “an overwhelming punch in the face of tropical fruit flavor.”

We’ll definitely be back for this treat, and we highly recommend it, especially since Orlando refuses to believe it’s fall and that heat is no joke. A frozen treat is always welcome in our books!

On the Menu!

WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered!
