Trademarks Filed for DreamWorks Land and Trollercoaster, Likely for Universal Orlando Resort

Dreamworks recently filed two new applications for trademark: One for “DreamWorks Land” and one for “Trollercoaster.” While no further official announcements have been made, Universal Studios Florida’s now-defunct Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone has a Dreamworks retheme underway. Let’s take another look at the concept art for the new DreamWorks area, now potentially named “DreamWorks Land,” coming to Universal Studios Florida to take a glimpse at what we can expect.

The concept art focuses on the land’s sign, which includes Shrek, Donkey, Po, and trolls.

But in the back right of the rendering, we can see a Shrek and Donkey meet and greet. Shrek and Donkey have been bouncing around Universal Studios Florida since Shrek 4-D closed in 2022. Their adjacent meet and greet closed and was relocated near DreamWorks Destination within Woody Woodpecker’s Kidzone, taking over the old Barney gift shop. After KidZone permanently closed, Shrek started meeting in the Hollywood area of Universal Studios Florida.

Trollercoaster?

Behind the Shrek and Donkey meet and greet, we get our first glimpse at the “Trollercoaster.” We can see a small roller-coaster seemingly inspired by Trolls. One of the franchise’s purple spider creatures sits atop a column, and a spider web is above the coaster track.

Last time we got a good look at construction and demolition in KidZone, Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster was still standing, so it seems likely this Trollercoaster will be a retheme. The newly filed trademark application may potentially be to name this new coaster, “Trollercoaster.”

Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone closed permanently in January 2023. E.T. Adventure and Animal Actors on Location! remain open but Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse CoasterFievel’s Playland, and Curious George Goes to Town are all gone.

The walls that went up around the KidZone construction zone featured DreamWorks characters, leading to speculation that the area would become entirely DreamWorks themed. Universal confirmed this Thursday morning with the following announcement:

Next year, Universal Orlando Resort will debut an all-new themed land featuring DreamWorks Animation’s beloved animated characters. As guests step into this new land, their imaginations will run wild as they take in the vibrant colors, sights and sounds that surround them. They will share special moments with their favorite characters like Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse and explore themed, interactive play spaces and attractions that bring popular franchises like Shrek, Trolls and Kung Fu Panda to life in the most imaginatively fun ways.

The new DreamWorks land, coming to Universal Studios Florida, is part of a collection of new entertainment experiences debuting at Universal Orlando Resort in 2024 and is a continuation of Universal’s commitment to rich storytelling that places guests of all ages in the most incredible and immersive environments. Stay tuned – more details will be revealed in the future.

We also noticed vertical construction in the land in July.
