The “Star Wars” X account announced the release date for the new Kanan Jarrus Legacy Lightsaber coming to Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.
The lightsaber will be available at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities on both coasts on Tuesday, November 1, 2023. It will be available on shopDisney later this fall. The hilt was first teased back in the summer of 2022.
In the video “Star Wars” posted on X, they included a look at the lightsaber hilt.
WDWNT reader Darci C. also previously shared photos with us of the hilt on display at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland.
The lightsaber hilt is relatively simple, with black on the handle and a guard before the silver emitter. It has a touch of orange on the pommel and a brown button.
Legacy Lightsaber hilts usually start at $159.99. Blades are sold separately for $50-$55.
Kanan Jarrus was a main character in “Star Wars Rebels.” His name was originally Caleb Dume, but he changed it when he went into hiding following Order 66. Kanan was a Jedi Padawan at the time, training under Master Depa Billaba. Billaba sacrificed herself to ensure Kanan’s escape. He was also assisted by “The Bad Batch,” as seen in the first episode of the spinoff series. While in hiding, Kanan kept his lightsaber in two pieces on his belt so he couldn’t be easily identified as a Jedi.
Kanan eventually joined the rebel cell led by Hera Syndulla, and the two fell in love. Ezra Bridger later joined their group and Kanan taught Ezra the ways of the Jedi. Kanan, like his master, ultimately sacrificed himself to save Ezra, Hera, and the rest of the crew. He never met his son, Jacen, who Hera gave birth to sometime later.
“Star Wars Rebels” characters Jacen, Hera, Ezra, Chopper, and Sabine Wren all appear in “Ahsoka,” currently airing on Disney+. The last member of their team, Zeb, made his live-action debut as a cameo in “The Mandalorian.”
Kanan, who was voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr., hasn’t appeared in live-action and isn’t expected to, but a photo of him is just barely visible on the dash of Hera’s ship, the Ghost, during “Ahsoka.”
Ezra’s second lightsaber, later used by Sabine, was released at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge earlier this year.

After a four-year closure, the iconic Walt Disney World Railroad has reopened at Magic Kingdom just in time for the 2022 holiday season. This opening day attraction is a fan favorite that takes guests on a relaxing 20-minute, 1.5-mile scenic round-trip tour around the park’s perimeter. The railroad originally opened with the park on October 1, 1971 but closed in late 2018 due to construction on the highly anticipated TRON Lightcycle Run rollercoaster coming to Tomorrowland. This closure allowed Disney to fully refresh the railroad tracks as well as introduce exciting new updates to the classic attraction.
The railroad now features completely new track looping around the park, including a brand new tunnel constructed near TRON Lightcycle Run. The old railroad tracks had to be removed to make way for TRON’s massive show building, so this offered the perfect opportunity to replace the 50-year-old tracks. The refreshed tracks allow the train to follow an updated route through the park while maintaining the same familiar journey. The new tunnel provides a seamless transition as the train passes under the TRON coaster, keeping guests immersed in the magic.
In addition to the refreshed track, the railroad also features an entirely new narration and voiceover. Disney Imagineers wanted to revisit the storytelling of this classic attraction and introduce a new voice to guide the journey. The new narrator is a charming, humble conductor character who acts as an “unofficial mayor” of the railroad. He grew up dreaming of working on the railroad and now revels in sharing his love and knowledge of the park as he transports guests from land to land. The voiceover provides delightful narration, historical facts, and fun anecdotes about the sights and attractions seen along the route. The conductor’s warm and welcoming personality brings a sense of nostalgia while blending in fresh commentary.
The refreshed railroad also offers guests unique views of new and upcoming attractions at Magic Kingdom. As the train passes through Tomorrowland, guests can catch an exclusive sneak peek at TRON Lightcycle Run before it officially opens in spring 2023.The new narration even references TRON and the railroad’s rerouted track around the coaster’s massive, glowing show building. This provides a behind-the-scenes view of the highly anticipated new attraction coming to the park.
While the refreshed railroad offers some exciting new updates, the heart of this classic attraction remains the same. Guests can still experience the nostalgia of Walt Disney World’s opening day as they enjoy a relaxing, scenic tour of the park aboard an authentic steam-powered locomotive. The four trains in operation are still the original 1916-1928 locomotives straight from Walt’s own vision. The railroad continues to be a fun way for guests to rest their feet and conveniently travel between lands. Kids and adults alike will enjoy the timeless experience of riding a vintage train at the Most Magical Place on Earth.

The popular Disney After Hours events are returning to Walt Disney World in 2024, bringing back extra late night magic to three theme parks. These separately ticketed events allow guests to enjoy the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios for three additional hours after regular park close with lower crowds and wait times. Disney has announced the After Hours event dates for 2024 which kick off on January 10th at Hollywood Studios, January 11th at Magic Kingdom, and February 2nd at Epcot. The events run select nights through early April. Here’s an overview of the 2024 Disney After Hours events:
During Hollywood Studios After Hours, guests can experience popular attractions like Slinky Dog Dash, Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance with minimal wait times. Character greetings, stage shows, and complimentary ice cream novelties and popcorn are also available.
The Magic Kingdom After Hours event allows guests to experience over 20 attractions like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Peter Pan’s Flight, and the new TRON Lightcycle Run. For 2024, Disney is bringing back the nighttime fireworks show Enchantment exclusively during the After Hours events. Magic Kingdom will also offer a standby queue for TRON Lightcycle Run, allowing guests to experience the high-demand ride without needing a Lightning Lane reservation.
Epcot After Hours provides short wait access to fan favorites like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Frozen Ever After, and the high-thrill Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. The park’s Soarin’, Test Track, and Spaceship Earth attractions will also be open.

Epcot After Hours tickets are $149-$159 for advance purchase. Further discounts are offered to Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members. Halloween is here, and we are doing ALL the fun and spooky things in Disney World.
Fort Wilderness
We’ve checked out all the Halloween decorations in Magic Kingdom. We’ve already been to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. We’ve also eaten a TON of Halloween snacks (and we have ZERO regrets). But now, we’re going to have some fun at one of Disney World’s resorts: Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.
So you may not know about it, but there’s a fun tradition that takes place at Fort Wilderness every Halloween season. It’s a golf cart parade, but these are not like golf carts you’ve seen anywhere else. These golf carts have been decked out in FULL costumes and they take a ride around the resort for guests to enjoy.

Here’s what happens: the golf carts are rented out by guests and then they put their creative skills to good use to decorate them. So much fun, right?
Halloween Golf Cart Parade Extravaganza
We spoke with Cast Members at Fort Wilderness who have a hand in making this parade possible each year and they stressed to us that this is all “guest-led”. Although the parade has been officially running with Disney for the past 13 years, it was all started by campground guests looking to have some fun.

The parade starts at the hitching area right by the front entrance and follows the longer (straighter) stretch of road through the Meadow section…

… where they’ll eventually be routed past the judge’s tent and scored points in categories based on creativity and theme.
The parade kicks off with Grand Marshalls (just like the parade in Magic Kingdom) flanked by horses from the Tri-Circle D Ranch on site. These Grand Marshalls are typically cast members.

The judges will deliberate with each other and narrow the hundreds of entries down to just 6. These finalists will then be judged by others staying at the campground and one will go on to be crowned the winner.

If you’re wondering how to get in to be considered for next year’s event here’s how to do it! First, you’ll need to be staying at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground as only these folks are allowed to participate. Then, about a week before the parade starts, visit the Bike Barn to get on the official lineup and receive your order number. All that’s left is to stick to the rules and regulations that Disney provides participants to ensure safety.
TRON Lightcycle / Run golf cart
If you’re looking to spectate at this event, well… that gets a bit tricky. Because of its immense popularity among resort campers and day spectators, this parade is limited to those who are actual guests of the campground — meaning, if you don’t have a resort reservation, you won’t be able to come over to watch.

However, this isn’t Fort Wilderness’ only golf cart extravaganza — they offer parades for holidays like the 4th of July, Christmas, and most recently Halfway to Halloween.

Another Disney Lorcana Elsa card has sold for over $1,000. But this time, bidding didn’t stop at $1,099.99. It reached $7,050.
While the previous high-value card was a holofoil Elsa – Spirit of Winter, this one was an even rarer D23 Expo Elsa – Snow Queen promo card.
At D23 Expo 2022, Disney and Ravensburger handed out a limited amount of promotional versions of six Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter cards. These cards had a special D23 Expo stamp on the bottom.
The Elsa – Snow Queen promo card was sold on eBay for $7,050 on October 15. It was graded Gem Mint 10 by Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA), meaning it had very few or no signs of wear, and was sold by user recklessmob.
Another Elsa – Snow Queen promo card was listed for $7,500 before an unknown best offer was accepted.
More eBay users have listed their Elsa – Snow Queen promo cards for up to $15,000.
So far, the $7,050 price is the highest-known sale for a single Disney Lorcana.
The high sale prices aren’t just because of the card’s already rare status. Ravensburger recently announced they would change how they publish promo cards in the future. Starting next year, they will replace convention-specific promo cards with three special cards available at all events that year. This means an overall promo card stamp will be used instead of the con-specific ones like the D23 Expo logo, making the original promo cards even more valuable.
The 2024 Disney Lorcana promo cards will be Pinocchio – Talkative Puppet, Rapunzel – Gifted Artist, and Four Dozen Eggs.
Disney Lorcana restocks are expected at local game stores this week. Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn will be released to game stores on November 17, followed by a wide release on December 1. A Disney100 edition of Disney Lorcana will also be released on December 1.

Disney World is too, because now that Halloween is officially here we’ve got a NEW treat to try. Come with us over to EPCOT to see what we’re snackin’ on today!
We picked up the Mickey Halloween Liege Waffle from Connections Cafe in EPCOT! This is a Dark Chocolate Liege Waffle with Purple and Green Icing and Mickey on top! You can get it on Halloween day only for $4.19.
Chocolate waffle
The chocolate is dark and rich and only lightly sweetened. It’s not a super sweet treat which can be a good thing for some people! It’s got a fluffy overall feel and is more yeasty in flavor than it is sweet. The waffle was soft and cake-like and easily melted in our mouth when we took a bite, though we do wish it had been warmer.
Heya, Mickey!
You won’t find a whole lot of depth here, as chocolate is pretty much the only flavor. It’s also very messy to eat which can be a nightmare when you’re in the parks.
We would say this is a good treat for chocolate lovers and people who like the other liege waffles at Connections but want a chocolate version. If you’re expecting a regular waffle or don’t like getting messy when eating, we’d suggest skipping this one.

It’s not too often that a ride completely breaks down while you’re on it.
Disneyland
Yes, sometimes a ride can shut down temporarily while guests are on it, but generally, it starts moving again shortly. If it doesn’t keep moving, you may end up getting walked off. But what if you’re on a boat in the middle of the Nile River when all of a sudden the boat no longer works? Well, one reader recently found out!
If you’re in Disneyland and Rise of the Resistance shuts down, you just get walked off the ride. But what if you’re on a Jungle Cruise boat and it just decides it’s done for the day and won’t turn on once you’ve already left the dock?
Barb Close, one of our readers, filled us in on what does happen if one of these boats no longer works.
Disneyland Jungle Cruise
Barb was recently on a trip to Disneyland when the Jungle Cruise boat she was on stopped working shortly after beginning their trek down the river. She said the boat started kinda sputtering and slowed down. It appeared that the boat had its check engine light come on. This is nearly as unlucky as a sleeping zebra being looked after by hungry lions!

Barb sent us a video during which you can hear the skippers saying that the engine wouldn’t turn over (not unlike a jeep we’ve all seen).

It made sounds like it was trying, but there was no luck getting it on. So a second boat had to come out to tug to them back to shore, dodging crocodiles and hippos the whole way!

Don’t worry, Skipper Darren took very good care of them, ensuring them that they were all going to die. You know, normal consoling things you say to people stranded on a wild river.

She did say that it was a very fun ride and the skipper was genuinely fantastic! This is definitely not something you see every day and goes to show that this ride really does leave your life in the hands of a punny skipper (we’re not sure how we feel about that anymore).
