Well, here we are again!
Disney World just opened a new attraction in EPCOT (although, technically, it soft-opened early). Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana will certainly be bringing the crowds to EPCOT, but while you’re being all excited about this something NEW and shiny, Disney is hoping you don’t notice some things.
Cast Members are still learning
Although the new attraction’s Cast Members have gone through extensive training, as well as previews, things are a lot different when a ride officially opens to the public. Cast Members have to learn how to deal with a completely different situation where even more people are riding that new attraction, as well as be able to answer questions they had not yet anticipated.
So when a new attraction opens, remember that a lot of this is new to Cast Members, too, so be sure to practice patience with them as they are doing their best.

Parts of the attraction might not be working
So we saw this during the Journey of Water previews — parts of the experience were not working. Even after everything starts working during previews, an attraction’s first day open to the public could put a great deal of stress on that attraction that it had not yet experienced — let’s face it, a lot of people are going to be checking it out.
We even saw some issues during the early days of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind where the pre-show wasn’t always working correctly. This is especially true of the more high-tech rides that have a lot more things that could go wrong.

Virtual queues and Lightning Lanes fill up FAST
When a ride first opens, good luck grabbing that virtual queue because it will go FAST. It’s honestly more of a luck of the draw grabbing that virtual boarding pass, but Disney doesn’t want you to know just HOW fast those passes go (we’re talking in SECONDS).
This is also true for the paid Individual Lightning Lane option. Disney wants you to try to pay to ride that new attraction, but you have NO idea how fast it will sell out until you’re a minute too late in trying to get a spot.
