The list can get pretty long when you’re thinking about all the travel essentials you’ll need. And, as you know, there are plenty of opportunities to forget those most important things. But what we’re here to talk about are some of the things that you can leave off your list and save yourself some packing regret!

We’re in the parks every day and we want to go over some of the things that you might want to leave off of your packing list for your next Disney World trip. Let’s dive in.

Full-sized toiletries

Alright, let’s talk about toiletries. Sometimes we’re guilty of tossing those big bottles of shampoo and moisturizer into our travel bags without a second thought, right? But here’s the thing: those full-sized containers can be a real headache during your trip and we’re not talking about TSA at the airport. We’re talking about opening your suitcase to discover that your shampoo or moisturizer has exploded all over your belongings. Not a pleasant scenario, right?

H2O toiletries

Remember that the Disney World hotels have toiletries they provide, so you might not even need to bring certain items, but if you do want to pack some, consider using travel-sized toiletries or investing in some small, leak-proof containers.

There’s just about nothing worse than getting to your hotel room and unpacking, only to discover that your lotion or moisturizer or toothpaste or whatever has spilled ALL OVER everything else in your suitcase. To prevent that disaster, check out this set of leak-proof travel bottles. The set comes with bottles, jars, spray bottles, scoopers, a funnel, a clean brush, and a bag.

Hairdryer

Now let’s talk about your hair care and specifically your hairdryer. You might be like us and typically toss your hairdryer right into your suitcase before traveling, but like with toiletries, most Disney resorts provide a hairdryer in the room. So, save yourself some space in your suitcase and leave your hairdryer at home.

Another thing you’ll want to keep in mind is that Florida is a humid place that can play some games with your hair, so you might just find that you won’t be styling your hair quite as often as you do back home.

Overpacking

If you’re anything like us, you might find yourself overpacking on occasion. So don’t worry. You’re not alone. Just keep in mind that if you give into packing your entire closet, you’ll just be adding a lot of unnecessary weight to your suitcase with tons of outfits that you won’t even wear on your trip.

The best advice we can give you is to plan out your outfits for each day of your trip so that you can streamline your packing and have only the options you need.

Now, when it comes to actually trying to fit everything you need into your suitcase, these compression packing cubes will be a lifesaver. You can stuff them full and then use the second zipper to compress everything and make the cube smaller.

Shoes

You’re going to be on your feet a lot at Disney World, so you have to make sure that you have the right footwear for your trip. While it might be tempting to sport a brand-new pair of shoes to match your stylish Disney-themed outfit, there’s a high possibility that those new shoes can cause you potential foot problems during your trip.

Of course, the proper footwear is super dependent on what you’re doing for the day. So, if you’re skipping all over EPCOT, you might not want to wear those flip-flops. And those slightly painful dress shoes might not even make it out of your suitcase. We definitely recommend planning out your daily activities and bringing an extra pair just in case you get caught in one of those afternoon Florida rain showers.

Eating Utensils

If you’re planning to enjoy the Food & Wine Festival at Disney World, be aware of the rules regarding eating utensils. While you might be tempted to bring your own cutlery from home for convenience, there are specific guidelines to follow. For example, bamboo forks and knives are usually okay, but avoid any utensils that could be seen as potentially dangerous.

To avoid all of that, you may want to consider grabbing a set like this Reusable Travel Utensils Set with Case.

These have a little carrying case and are perfect to use at the parks for all the snacks you’ll be having.
