Artist, activist, and former Disney Imagineer Nikkolas Smith shared an X post with a sneak peek at a new sculptural tower coming to Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort.
Sculptural Tower Concept Art and Details
The tower, currently being constructed in collaboration with Walt Disney Imagineering, was designed by Smith as a love letter to mid-1900’s Black architects in Southern California. Several of these architect’s distinct styles are present in the supporting structures of the sculptural tower, including those of trailblazer Paul R. Williams, Roy Sealey, Robert Kennard, and more.
“A long-time inspiration of mine has been the trailblazing Black architects of Southern California during the mid-20th century. I designed this tower to be a commemoration of their enduring legacy and a beacon of hope for humanity’s interconnected future. My hope is that this landmark inspires future generations of designers like me.”

Smith shared a photo of himself alongside current Imagineers at the construction site. Learn more about this and other art projects Nikkolas is navigating here.
