  • 11 refurbishments and closures are currently happening at Walt Disney World, including Splash Mountain, Kali River Rapids, and more.
  • Disney shared plans to “nearly double” capital expenditures in its theme parks, signaling major investments ahead.
  • New festival marketplaces debuted at EPCOT on September 22nd, including booths themed to Hawaii, Spain, and more.
  • runDisney revealed the 2024 Disneyland Half Marathon weekend medals featuring midcentury Disneyland nostalgia and Mickey and Friends.
  • Disney reached a new carriage deal with Charter Spectrum, ending a blackout that prevented some customers from accessing Disney channels.

Disneyland Park:

  • Space Mountain closed September 18, 2023, reopening October 27, 2023
  • Splash Mountain permanently closed May 31, 2023, reopening as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in late 2024
  • Tarzan’s Treehouse closed indefinitely, reopening as Adventureland Treehouse in November 2023
  • Mark Twain Riverboat closed September 17, 2023, reopening date unknown
  • it’s a small world” closed October 23 – November 10, 2023 for holiday overlay
  • Fantasmic! closed indefinitely, expected to return in spring 2024

Magic Kingdom

  • Splash Mountain: Permanently closed on January 23, 2023 for retheme into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, reopening in late 2024.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster: Closed for refurbishment from February 21, 2023 through Summer 2023.
