Monday afternoon, US District Judge Allen Winsor granted Disney’s request for an extension to file a response to FL Governor Ron DeSantis’s motion to dismiss the First Amendment Federal lawsuit. Disney’s response was originally due on October 19, 2023, and that date has been extended to October 30, 2023. The deadline for the defendants to file their responses has been moved from October 30, 2023, to November 9, 2023.
In April of this year, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S. Inc. filed a Federal lawsuit against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the Secretary of the Department of Economic Opportunity, members of the Board of Supervisors for the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD), and the Administrator of CFTOD. The suit claims that DeSantis is using his government standing to retaliate against and penalize Disney for exercising its First Amendment rights.
