A new collection of holiday merchandise featuring Earl the Squirrel and his (as of now) unnamed female companion debuted at Universal’s Islands of Adventure on October 19, the same day that Universal Orlando Resort announced their 2023 holiday offerings. We found all of this new merchandise at the Port of Entry Christmas Shoppe, located near the entrance of Universal’s Islands of Adventure.
Earl and Friend Slipper Socks – $24.00
Earl the Squirrel has long been a holiday mascot at Universal Orlando Resort and has appeared on a litany of merchandise in past years, but this is the first year that he appears alongside his new friend. All of the newly released 2023 holiday items match the lumberjack aesthetic established by past Earl merchandise.
You can wear Earl and his unnamed companion on your feet or display him over your fireplace with these new holiday slipper socks. A traditional buffalo plaid pattern engulfs the majority of a sock, sans its black heel.
Two yarn balls are attached to and hang from the black fleece cuff. Black gripping devices are attached to the bottom of the sock.
A patch featuring Earl and his female companion inside a decorated holiday wreath is attached to the side of the sock.
Earl and Friend Lanyard – $13.00
If you want to display your unwavering love of Earl and his new friend more prominently, this lanyard may be what you’re looking for. The red-and-blue dual-sided lanyard features several depictions of the festive squirrels, including the same wreath artwork that appears as a patch on the sock. The heads of Earl and his friend also appear independently alongside Christmas gifts, lights, and other general holiday iconography.
“Universal Studios” and “Merry and Nutty” text are printed intermittently throughout the red side of the lanyard. “Universal Studios” is printed in a large white festive font on the blue side, appearing atop established Earl iconography like a red trailer, green squirrel and tree, and white acorn.
Earl the Squirrel Fleece Ballcap- $30.00
This ballcap is covered in buffalo plaid patterned fleece. Earl appears on a patch in the center of the crown; he’s sticking his head through a decorated holiday wreath while wearing his trademark trapper hat and scarf.
There are no patches or branding on either side of the cap. It’s adjustable thanks to a black velcro strap on the back panel.
“Universal Studios” is embroidered above the strap in a festive font. It’s flanked by white acorns and snowflakes.
Earn and Friend Scented Candle – $20
The Earl and friend wreath artwork appears again on the scented candle, this time printed atop a snowflake-accented buffalo plaid pattern on the lid. “Scented candle” is printed beneath the artwork in a white font.
“Earl’s Tree Farm” is printed on the side label, which, too, features a buffalo plaid pattern. The specific scent of the candle is not listed; past “Earl’s Tree Farm” candles have been balsam and pine-scented.
The Earl and friend wreath artwork again appears on the side label. The festive “Universal Studios” text appears next to the female squirrel, while the green “Earl’s Tree Farm” branding is printed next to Earl.
Earl the Squirrel ‘Merry and Nutty’ Mug – $20
Sip your Christmas morning coffee (or Christmas Eve eggnog) out of this festive Earl mug. The mug is black and features a red interior. Earl appears on the side of the mug in front of his small white trailer that’s decorated with buffalo plaid window shades and detailing. He’s holding a string of multi-colored holiday lights that stretch back to the pine trees behind him.
“Merry and Nutty,” a lighthearted tagline that’s been seen on Earl merchandise in the past, appears amidst snowflakes above the trailer. The festive “Universal Studios” text appears at the bottom of the mug.
Earl the Squirrel Ringer T-Shirt – $33
This ringer t-shirt is white and features red ribbed bands around the neck and arm holes. The front of the shirt features the same “Merry and Nutty” trailer artwork seen on the mug.
The back of the shirt features no imagery or branding.
Earl the Squirrel Hoodie – $65
This red hoodie with a black drawstring features a slightly altered version of the Earl art seen on the previous two items. It ditches the trailer and places Earl in a forest; he’s still standing in front of a pine tree while holding multi-colored lights that wrap around his tail and the closest tree. “The Nuttier The Merrier” is printed above the artwork, while “Universal Studios” is written out in the snow by Earl’s feet.
The interior of the hood features a black lining. The back of the hoodie features no imagery.
Earl the Squirrel Trapper Hat – $35
If wearing merchandise featuring Earl wasn’t enough, you can now match the beloved character with this new trapper hat. The exterior lining is covered in a buffalo plaid pattern that features red Earl iconography (such as an acorn, truck, tree, squirrel, and snowflake) in some of the black squares.
The same Earl wreath artwork that’s seen on the fleece ballcap is stitched to a flap on the left side of the trapper hat. The front, ear, and side flaps are all lined with black fleece.
The festive “Universal Studios” logo is embroidered in white on the back of the hat.
A golden-colored snap button is attached to the chin buckle, allowing you to connect the two ear flaps beneath your chin.
Earl and Friend Sherpa Throw Blanket – $65
Beat the December frigidness with this large festive throw blanket. Earl and his friend appear in front of a holiday wreath and above a wooden plank. “Universal Studios” has been carved into the wood.
The artwork is printed atop a seamless pattern that features a green squirrel, a red trailer, and white acorns and snowflakes. It’s the same pattern that appears on the blue side of the aforementioned lanyard, though the pattern is printed on a black base here.
The back of the blanket is covered in white fleece.
Earl the Squirrel Heathered Shirt – $25
This heathered gray t-shirt features red sleeves and a punny joke. Earl sticks his head through a decorated wreath and holds a wooden sign that reads “Nuttin But Trouble” in red text.
The artwork is surrounded by multi-colored Christmas lights. The festive “Universal Studios” logo is printed beneath the artwork in red.
Holiday Season at Universal Orlando Resort
Universal Orlando Resort announced their holiday offerings on October 19. Universal’s Holiday Tour will return and will be offered on select nights between November 17 and December 30, 2023. Annual Passholder perks for the holiday season were revealed, and bookings for The Grinch & Friends Character Breakfast, hosted this year at Confisco Grille, also opened on Thursday morning,
