If You’re in EPCOT Today, We’re a Little Worried About You

If long lines and big crowds stress you out, you probably should just close this post right now. Seriously. It got SCARY in EPCOT today.

The CROWDS

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana has soft-opened in EPCOT, and it’s already VERY popular. Come with us to check out the CROWDS and find out how long you might have to wait in order to go inside the new attraction.

Journey of Water is a new walk-through attraction where you can explore lush gardens and play with different water features. You can play water like a harp, walk through a waterfall that parts as you go under it, and even cause waves to crash against a rock wall. It’s a fun, interactive experience, and the various signs that teach about the water cycle bring in classic old EPCOT vibes.

Group water element

A lot of people have been excited to test the new attraction, but when it first opened yesterday (October 6th), the crowds weren’t too bad. There were a lot of people there, but the crowds were manageable and not overwhelming. So what’s it like today?

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana

When we arrived in EPCOT early this afternoon, Disney was once again using a virtual queue for Journey of Water. You can join the virtual queue on the My Disney Experience app. The return line didn’t look bad at all when we stopped by — in fact, it looked like people were walking right inside once their group was called.

Walking right in

By the time our own group was called, though, it was a different story. There was a LONG line that extended all the way past the Seas pavilion and towards the entrance of the Land pavilion.

A LONG line

This line looped back on itself a few times, which made it even longer.

Looping back

Luckily, it looked like the line was moving pretty quickly. Still, you should be aware that you might be facing a long wait if you want to preview the attraction before it officially opens on the 16th.

What happened?

Disney hasn’t said whether they will continue to utilize a virtual queue once it’s officially open, but they will likely use it as long as the attraction remains popular enough. Once demand dies down a little bit, it seems like there will just be a standby line.

Waiting to go in

Don’t forget that there’s also a new Moana meet-and-greet in EPCOT now! When we were there, the line was closed. However, a Cast Member told us that it would reopen later that day.

Here’s a look at the times for the Moana meet-and-greet:

The crowds from this soft-opening have affected other areas in EPCOT.

It’s crowded everywhere

The lines at the Food & Wine Festival booths were LONG today…

Long lines

…and we’ve hardly ever seen a wait like this for Garden House in the Japan pavilion!

What?!

It was very people-y all throughout World Showcase.

People everywhere

The lines for some attractions got very long, like Test Track, which had a 90-minute wait.

It didn’t help that some rides were down for a while, including Frozen Ever After…
