A new logo and synopsis for Marvel Studios’ “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries” series have been revealed. The series stars Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness, who was introduced in “WandaVision.” Hahn earned a Best Supporting Actress Emmy nomination for her role and the song “Agatha All Along” won the Emmy for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics.

The Agatha spinoff has been renamed multiple times. Originally titled “Agatha: House of Harkness,” Marvel later renamed it “Agatha: Coven of Chaos.” With the announcements of various release date delays last month, the newest title of “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries” was revealed. The logo is similar to the logos for the previous two titles, with magical purple lettering. The series was pushed to early fall 2024.

A synopsis for the first episode of the series was revealed in the U.S. Copyright Office Public Records System:

In the first episode we see Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) finally break out of a spell she has been trapped in. She can’t wait to go back to her old murderous ways only to find that she is powerless. The only way forward for her is to embark on a perilous quest to get her powers back with the help of an unlikely friend or two.

Show creator Jac Schaeffer is listed as the episode director. The cast list includes Aubrey Plaza as Rio, Joe Locke as “Teen,” Patti LuPone as Lilia, Sasheer Zamata as Jen K, and Ali Ahn as Alice. The shooting location is Atlanta, Georgia.

LuPone’s Lilia is Lilia Calderu, who is a sorceress and keeper of the Book of Cagliostro in Marvel Comics. Zamata’s Jen K is Jennifer Kale, also a sorceress who has been part of various magical superhero teams. Ali Ahn’s Alice may be Alice Gulliver a.k.a. The Wu, a detective with magical abilities.

Locke is suspiciously credited as just “Teen.” Since Marvel announced his casting, fans have speculated he would play Billy Kaplan, a.k.a. Wiccan. In the comics, Billy and Tommy Shepherd (Speed) are reincarnated versions of Wanda Maximoff and Vision’s twin sons. Locke will reportedly be “a gay teen with a dark sense of humor” and a “familiar” to a witch coven.
