A new fantastical and magical take on the iconic Mickey ear headband recently debuted at Magic Kingdom, as a new “Encanto” headband is now available at several retail locations throughout the park. We found this item at the Emporium on Main Street U.S.A. and at Big Top Souvenirs in the Fantasyland section of the park; this item debuted at Disneyland in late September and is also available for purchase on shopDisney.
New ‘Encanto’ Headband – $34.99
The dark blue ears are covered with an artificial leather material. Green leaves are embroidered atop each ear, with the orange, yellow, blue, pink, and red fabric flowers across the top of the headband adding an additional splash of color.
A foam butterfly is attached between the left ear and the flower arrangement; butterflies are a recurring motif and symbol throughout the 2021 film.
The headband is padded and the interior is covered in a non-slip velour. The back of the headband contains no embroidery or additional design elements.
This headband was released as part of the “Encanto La Familia Madrigal” collection. Items from the line are currently available at several locations across Walt Disney World Resort, including World of Disney at Disney Springs, Once Upon A Time at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Curtain Call Collectibles at Magic Kingdom (in addition, of course, to the Emporium and Big Top Souvenirs). The collection is also available on shopDisney.
“Encanto” at Walt Disney World
“Encanto” tells the story of the Madrigal family and, more specifically, Mirabel, who must fight to keep the proverbial and literal magic of her family alive. The film’s representation has increased throughout Walt Disney World Resort since its initially modest box office showing in late 2021. The film blossomed in popularity after debuting on the Disney+ streaming service that holiday season, with references to the movie growing throughout Walt Disney World parks as a result.
Mirabel Madrigal started appearing in the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade at Magic Kingdom in 2022, and a permanent meet and greet opened in the Fantasyland section of the park on September 15 of this year. Bruno Madrigal started appearing in the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade on September 15 to coincide with the start of Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, and more “Encanto” characters could be coming to the resort in the near future, as Walt Disney World recently posted a casting call for a Luisa Madrigal performer.
“Encanto” theming appears on a bus wrap and on a Disney Skyliner car at Walt Disney World Resort, and additional representation may be coming in the future. Walt Disney Imagineering presented a potential Tropical Americas-themed overhaul of Dinoland U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Resort at Destination D23 2023, referencing “Encanto” as one of the land’s possible intellectual property tie-ins.
