With only two days to go until the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company, we noticed, most of the Disney100 decorations on Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Park have been removed.
Disney100 Decorations Mostly Removed
The specific décor that was removed was, for the most part, the final additions to the castle for Disney’s centennial.
The purple and platinum banners along the sides of the drawbridge are still present, for now.
The Disney100 Years of Wonder shield still hangs above the drawbridge, but the statues of the Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, as well as the decorative bunting that hung underneath the shield that was held up by the fairies.
Here’s a look at what the décor previously looked like.
The silver wishing star that previously sat atop the center tower of Sleeping Beauty Castle has also been removed.
Here’s a look at the star prior to its removal.
The final pieces of décor removed were the platinum and gold buntings that hung on the far left and right towers of the castle.
The bunting is no longer present on either side of the castle.
The bunting previously framed the castle and brought even more symmetry to the decorations.
The Walt Disney Company will celebrate its 100th anniversary on Monday, October 16, 2023. With this removal happening so close to the actual anniversary of the company, it is possible that at least some decorations could be shipped to EPCOT. The resort has already added various décor for the anniversary, like a platinum Mickey Mouse statue and a Spaceship Earth-themed sign.
What do you think of the removal of the Disney100 decorations so close to the actual company anniversary? Would you have liked to see the décor stick around a little bit longer? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
Disney 100 Years of Wonder
Disney’s 100 Years of Wonder (or Disney100 for short) is being celebrated across the world at Disney Parks and Resorts.
The 100 Years of Wonder celebration began at Disneyland Resort with “Wondrous Journeys” at Disneyland and “World of Color – ONE” at Disney California Adventure. There is a platinum Mickey statue (which initially had to be fixed because the Walt Disney quote on the base was incorrect) and a platinum Minnie statue in Disneyland.
At Walt Disney World Resort, EPCOT offers several Disney100 offerings. At the Magic Eye Theater, guests can meet Mickey and Minnie in their platinum 100th anniversary outfits. At night, Spaceship Earth lights up with a special Disney100 spectacle of light. There are also Disney100 decorations, a platinum Mickey statue just like the one in Disneyland, and a mural full of Disney characters.
