As Halloween approaches and spooky season nears its peak, the scariest décor of all has arrived at Disneyland Resort. We spotted new holiday decorations in the New Orleans Square and Mickey’s Toontown sections of Disneyland Park and in Grizzly Peak at Disney California Adventure during recent visits to the parks.
New Orleans Square
The additional New Orleans Square décor has been installed in waves throughout the past several days. The first holiday decorations of the season went up in this section of the park last week in the form of crescent-shaped Santa ornaments hung from trees throughout the area.
The festive garnish of New Orleans Square is far more substantial now than it was just a few days ago, with the iconic Mardi Gras mask perhaps being the most visually striking recent addition. The large gold decoration styled after a traditional Mardi Gras face mask is added to New Orleans Square for several holiday celebrations.
There are light-up garlands on railings throughout New Orleans Square.
The garlands on each balcony are different, so it looks more like different businesses and residents have decorated.
Sparkly golden stars hang from tree branches.
A gold crescent moon was installed to accompany the stars.
Not all the garlands were illuminated at night, though. These and a wreath were dark.
Ironically, these garlands and the wreath looked illuminated when we visited during the day.
The garlands are decorated with Mardi Gras beads, bows, and ornaments.
Red ornaments also hang from the balconies, over doorways.
There are Santa ornaments on this balcony.
A wreath is on the iron gate in front of one window.
Gold horns decorations are on the lampposts, below the lanterns. These decorations have flowers, butterflies, and masks tucked into them.
The embellishments vary in color on each decoration.
Cristal d’Orleans has unique decorations on its lanterns and above its windows. These green garlands are packed with blue and gold ornaments, and topped with gold bows.
Mickey’s Toontown
Mickey & Friends have decorated Toontown with their unique, themed decorations. This is the first Christmas since Mickey’s Toontown reopened after its major reimagining. Above the fire station is a wreath with a big yellow bow. The garland across the top of the building is wrapped with a firehouse and punctuated by two yellow fire hydrants.
Giant red bows are on the lampposts throughout the land.
The garland above Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin has taxi-inspired yellow bows with black checking.
All of the garlands have colorful ornaments tucked into them. The ornaments over this warehouse façade vary in shape and size, and there’s also a string of purple running through the garland.
A wreath over the Fireworks Factory door has fireworks-inspired embellishments.
Over the dentist’s office are ornaments resembling giant pieces of red and white-striped candy. The wreath on the gym façade features blue boxing gloves.
More simple garland hangs over the Gag Factory, with colorful bows on the ends.
The wreath around the post office’s sign is full of stamps and small wrapped gifts.
The 3rd Little Piggy Bank has a themed garland decorated with giant silver coins and dollar bills. Gold bows are on the ends.
Toontown City Hall has patriotic red, white, and blue garland.
Donald has decorated his boat with blue garland that is secured in place with red bows and gold anchors.
String lights hang across the front of Donald’s boat, although construction walls still block access to that area.
Donald’s mailbox is surrounded by a blue wreath with orange and blue ornaments and yellow rope.
Mickey has decorated his house with classic garlands featuring small ornaments, snowflakes, and red bows.
A train sits below a Christmas tree outside his house.
Minnie has a similar tree, but it’s decorated with pink and purple ornaments that match her house. And while Mickey’s tree is topped with a star, Minnie’s features a pink bow.
She also has a heart-shaped pink wreath on the front of her house.
In her garden, a bright pink garland wraps around her gazebo.
Grizzly Peak
The trees of Grizzly Peak are draped in popcorn garland.
They’re also decorated with red bows.
