The new Ursula tiki mug is now available to all guests via mobile order from Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel. The mug was teased a week ago and Disney later announced it would be available on October 18. But guests who attended the October 16 Trader Sam’s Mixology Seminar actually got to take it home first.
Ursula Tiki Mug Release
Mobile orders for the mug opened Wednesday morning at 6 a.m. PT. Guests who mobile order will receive a designated arrival window between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. There is a limit of two per order.
As per usual, distribution of the mug is actually on the lawn near Trader Sam’s.
Guests check in and then pick up their mug at one of several stations.
During the mixology seminar, Disney stated the mug by itself was $75 and the glow cube that sits in the center was an extra $6. It’s possible they received too many complaints about that, because it was $75 in total for both the mug and “cube” on Wednesday.
There were water dispensers available to guests waiting.
Also, as usual, there was a themed photo op area for taking pictures of your mug and/or yourself.
The photo op had giant seashells and tropical plants.
There was a ship’s wheel and Trader Sam’s signs.
The giant contract Ursula has Ariel sign in the animated film “The Little Mermaid” was also on display.
Ursula Tiki Mug – $75
The Ursula tiki mug is modeled after her cauldron as it appears in the 1989 animated “The Little Mermaid.” Ursula uses the cauldron to craft potions and create illusions.
It’s a vibrant purple with ridged detailing and claw-like pieces sticking up from the rim.
One of Ursula’s tentacles wraps around the handle.
Polyps are depicted around the bowl of the mug and on the sides of its internal structure. These polyps are the captured souls of former merpeople; they are seen near Ursula’s lair in the original film.
The orb-shaped glow cube sits on a pedestal in the center of the mug.
It lights up in different colors.
The Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar logo is printed on the bottom of the Ursula tiki mug.
Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar
Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar opened at Disneyland Hotel in 2011 and promptly became a popular destination for specialty cocktails and a quick bite to eat. Deriving its name from a character from the Jungle Cruise attraction, the venue is rich in theming and quality beverages, and thus, guests often face long wait times to enjoy the experience.
The bar received an East Coast counterpart when Trader Sam’s Grog Gotto opened at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World in 2015. Though aesthetically different in theming, the venues contain similar menus.
The well-realized tiki theming plays a large role in Trader Sam’s popularity. Merchandise based on and inspired by the bar has long been sold at Disney parks, with mugs similar to the new Ursula-inspired cup long being a popular item. Mugs styled after the venue’s most popular cocktails have been sold in the past, and the beloved Hatbox Ghost from the Haunted Mansion received a tiki-style makeover for a mug of his own in August 2023.
