Craving a sweet treat but not attending Halloween Horror Nights? Make sure you stop by Today Cafe at the front of Universal Studios Florida for one of their seasonal offerings. These snacks are available during the day as well as during Halloween Horror Nights. Today Cafe is one of our favorite restaurants so we couldn’t wait to try these new Halloween desserts. Let’s check out the Rotting Pumpkin, Pumpkin Dulce de Leche Puff, Peanut Caramel Bar, and Graveyard Cake.
Pumpkin Dulce de Leche Puff – $6.99
This delicious little cream puff has a crispy, sweet layer on the outside. That touch of sugar adds a bit of crunch and elevates the pastry shell to another level.
There’s a dollop of pumpkin whipped cream, sprinkled with pepitas and gold flakes.
We loved this treat! The dulce de leche filling was creamy and sweet, but there wasn’t enough of it in our puff. The pumpkin flavor doesn’t stand out as much as the dulce de leche, but this was still one of our favorite treats.
Rotting Pumpkin – $6.49
When we ordered the Rotting Pumpkin, we asked the Team Member what type of dessert it was and they had no idea. This meant we were in for a surprise when we cut into it.
The inside was an intentionally disgusting green color and looked like mousse. After we took a bite, we realized it was a creamy pumpkin cheesecake and we instantly fell in love. The pumpkin flavor isn’t too strong, but gives you the perfect Fall vibes with a rich and decadent cheesecake taste and texture. This was one of the desserts we haven’t been able to stop thinking about and will be ordering again.
Graveyard Coffee Cake – $5.49
The seasonal cakes from Today Cafe are always delicious and this one is no exception. This coffee cake is topped by chocolate rocks and dirt and white chocolate bones.
This cake is similar to a cinnamon coffee cake. The texture is soft and spongey and the layer of frosting is just the right amount. This is the kind of cake you could justify having for breakfast. It isn’t too sweet but will satisfy your craving for a snack. Another winner from Today Cafe.
Peanut Caramel Bar – $5.99
The last dessert we tried was the peanut caramel bar. If you liked Yuri’s Favorite from the Stranger Things booth, this takes it to the next level. The rich peanut butter mousse filling has a thin ribbon of caramel in the center and comes coated in a milk chocolate shell on top of a wafer cookie. More peanut butter dollops are added on top of the bar along with milk chocolate shavings. There are no peanuts in this dessert, just peanut butter flavor.
Somebody had to stop us from immediately running back to the counter to order another one. This was incredible. At first bite, this tasted like a fresh, homemade Snickers candy bar. If you’ve ever had a Twix or Snickers ice cream bar, this is very similar, without being frozen. The texture is very creamy and soft inside and the thin chocolate shell around the outside is just the right amount to compliment the peanut butter. The caramel is strong enough to stand out, but not take away from the peanut butter mousse.
We loved everything we tried from Today Cafe at Universal Studios Florida. You can’t go wrong with any of these delightful snacks. These treats are available throughout the Halloween season, so make sure to stop by and grab them while you can.
