The New Stories of EPCOT: What To Watch While You Wait

We are continuing with the new and revamped series of What to Watch While You Wait, updated with all the latest attractions so that your family can enjoy the stories of Disney before your big trip. Last time, we looked at all the fantastic movies you can see before enjoying your time in Magic Kingdom. Now, we are heading over to one of my favorite Disney Parks, EPCOT.

Beauty And The Beast

Movie: Beauty and the Beast, Animated or Live Action
Related Attractions: Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along, Character Dining

EPCOT is one of the best places to enjoy time with your favorite Disney Princesses. Not only can you meet Belle in the France pavilion (See Our Full Character Guide Here), but you can also enjoy the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along. What good would a sing-along be without knowing the music? Be sure to catch up on your knowledge of this classic tale that’s as old as time before your visit to EPCOT!

Finding Nemo

Movie: Finding Nemo, Finding Dory
Related Attractions: Bruce’s Shark World, The Seas With Nemo & Friends, Coral Reef, Turtle Talk with Crush

If you don’t know who lives at 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney, then we strongly advise that you brush up on your underwater Disney character with a showing of Finding Nemo! There are several experiences that will be enhanced with the knowledge of this storyline. If you happen to be dining at Coral Reef Restaurant, it can be a great way to talk about the animals in the giant aquarium tank while you are seated.

Duck Tales

Movie/TV Show: DuckTales
Related Attractions: Disney’s DuckTales World Showcase Adventure

EPCOT’s World Showcase is filled with exciting things for families to enjoy, though if your little ones are having trouble staying interested while you explore each pavilion, getting them involved with Disney’s DuckTales World Showcase Adventure might do the trick. Using the mobile app, there will be things for them to find in each of the pavilions to help the DuckTales characters find lost magic treasure. The storyline will be more accessible for your children to feel involved in if they have seen some of the episodes or the movie DuckTales.

Frozen

Movie: Frozen, Frozen 2
Related Attractions: Frozen Ever After, Frozen Meet & Greet

Once you start enjoying the Norway pavilion, you won’t want to let it go! While you won’t need to know the backstory to enjoy the unique, creative nature of the Frozen Ever After attraction, the surrounding area, including meet & greet with Elsa & Anna, will feel much more immersive once children are familiar with the tale of two sisters, discovering who they are meant to be.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Movie: Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 1, Vol. 2, & Vol.3
Related Attractions: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

For a younger audience, the characters of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy aren’t likely to be ones that you are already familiar with. If you plan on enjoying one of the newest rides to open at EPCOT, Cosmic: Rewind, we highly recommend that you enjoy some of the movies before arriving. There is a subtle humor throughout the writing that is very enjoyable, and the eccentricity of the characters is much more relatable when you know more about their backgrounds.

Moana

Movie: Moana
Related Attractions: Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana

Do you really need an excuse to watch Moana? As one of my favorite Disney movies of all time, I love seeing the movie and never seem to get tired of it. The Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana attraction, while beautiful, might have a little less meaning if you haven’t seen the shoreline part for baby Moana in the movie.

Ratatouille

Movie: Ratatouille
Related Attractions: Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

One of the newer attractions in the park, before you go zooming through the kitchen in EPCOT’s France pavilion, schedule a movie night with the family to remember the story of Remy in the Disney classic Ratatouille. You’ll really feel like the story is coming to life as you see the world from Remy’s perspective if you’ve had time to familiarize yourself with the movie before you leave.

The countdown to your Disney Vacation might feel like an eternity, but with a few of these family movie nights scheduled, your time will fly by. Settle in with a few of these classics, and let your knowledge of the characters expand before you arrive. We will see you next time for What to Watch While You Wait in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
